Why are kissing scenes so loud? Is that how it is in real life?

Kissing scenes in movies and television make me very uncomfortable. Bleh! I think its 90% the noise that makes me uncomfortable because when the volume is on mute its not as bad. My question is, is kissing in real life that loud and does it sound like that? I can't be too sure because I have never kissed and I don't think I have ever been within earshot of a kissing couple either :S

  • The movie-makers assume that movie viewers want those scenes to be noticeably intimate. It's similar to how commercials are always louder than the show or movie. It's annoying. I don't think that's how kissing is in real life.

  • I've never noticed kissing in real life sounding like that at all..
