This take is somewhat true. Alpha males do exist in nature among primates and other complex mammals, seemingly also among humans.

But true alphas don't typically have sex and then leave in nature. Usually they stick around to raise their offspring. Humans kind of mixed that up due to their ability for higher cognitive processing. So I wouldn't call that 'alpha' behavior necessarily, at least not in a full sense. I'd call that a mass reproductive strategy.
