So the above billboard from the AHF (Aids Healthcare Foundation) has Tinder and Grindr in a bit of a pickle. AHF would like all the users on Tinder and Grindr to get tested as if somehow when it comes to these particular sites .....everyone throws out self responsibility and common sense. Linking Tinder and Grindr to STD's is like linking any burger or chicken wing joint to heart disease. Can it happen? Sure ....absolutely. STD's have been around forever just like greasy burgers, wings and fries. Just visit any college campus and you will find the same type of prevention campaigns as you do with this one. Somehow there are no billboards making the news warning against college campus sex and STD's. Funny how that works.

Tinder is just a tool to meet people, like Match, POF, or OK Cupid. There is no difference. Tinder is not advertising come to our site and have unprotected sex.

I am shocked they didn't use Ashley Madison... that site would fit much better on this billboard but they are basically saying that young people are stupid. If I were Tinder and Grindr I would embrace this and do their own STD campaign. Hey Tinder and Grindr.... FLIP the SCRIPT already. Quit complaining because all that does is make you look guility and you're clearly not. Would it hurt to put out your own STD campaign? If you are worried about revenue I wouldn't. Tobacco companies know they can warn everyone about their products but it won't matter to the ones already using them. Whether you meet someone in a bar, grocery store, gym, concert, college campus, or an online dating site....people still need to use common sense PERIOD.... END OF STORY.

  • The billboard is just throwing caution to the wind. Young people can be stupid. When you're young you think you're invincible and tend to do more stupid things. I can't even list how many on this site describe some sort of unprotected sex. Ashley Madisons focus is on infidelity. Tinder and Grindrs audience are casual sex seekers, attention seekers, and those actually wanting a relationship. If I had to guess casual sex seekers take up 75% of both apps.

  • Match, PoF, and OK Cupid are (at least marketed as) RELATIONSHIP websites. Tinder and Grindr make very little pretense that they're about anything but hooking up (getting laid), and that's certainly how they are used, so, yeah, I get why they would be singled out to be used as an example.

    There's plenty of people that don't use those sites and have std because of a careless and reckless lifestyle.

  • That is just a very ignorant add. Tinder is not a sex place. I have used POF and Tinder primarily since being forced to date again. It was no different then POF.

  • 1 in 3 girls in college who have had 4 or more sexual partners has an STD. Tinder is a hook up app. You do the math.

  • You have to actually meet and have sex with someone on tinder before you can get an STD. So the chances are pretty slim.

  • The only thing I've gotten from using Tinder is disappointment from the type of women on there haha (I even asked a question about it on GaG!). Yeah I thought Tinder was about hookups only but it's 90% a "do you think I'm attractive?" App. It's not like the girls on OKC or POF are of any higher quality, and they aren't much different either.

    Really, you're just as likely to catch an STD from banging a Tinder match as you are anyone else you've met in public. Don't want STD's? Don't sleep with people you don't know and when you finally do know them, don't be an idiot and not use condoms. It's simple.

  • Well you want get an STD from using tinder itself, it depends on the girl/guy you have sex with which you can still get from someone you didn't meet on that app.

    Regardless of how you met your sex partner, use protection and get tested unless it's someone you've been in a long term relationship with, been married to and obviously are exclusive with.
