10 Amazing Pro-Choice Quotes

If men could get pregnant, abortion would be a sacrament.

—Florynce Kennedy

The emphasis must be not on the right to abortion but on the right to privacy and reproductive control.

—Ruth Bader Ginsburg

Decades ago, women suffered through horrifying back-alley abortions. Or, they used dangerous methods when they had no other recourse. So when the Republican Party launched an all-out assault on women’s health, pushing bills to limit access to vital services, we had to ask: Why is the GOP trying to send women back…to the back alley?

—Lisa Edelstein

Listen to the pregnant woman. Value her. She values the life growing inside her. Listen to the pregnant woman, and you cannot help but defend her right to abortion.
—Ayelet Waldman

The issue is not abortion. The issue is whether women can make up their own mind instead of some right-wing pastor, some right-wing politician telling them what to do.
—Howard Dean

What is this ban on abortion—it is a survival of the veiled face, of the barred window and the locked door, burning, branding, mutilation, stoning, of all the grip of ownership and superstition come down on woman, thousands of years ago.

—Stella Brown

I cannot understand anti-abortion arguments that center on the sanctity of life. As a species we’ve fairly comprehensively demonstrated that we don’t believe in the sanctity of life. The shrugging acceptance of war, famine, epidemic, pain and life-long poverty shows us that, whatever we tell ourselves, we’ve made only the most feeble of efforts to really treat human life as sacred.

—Caitlin Moran

If the anti-abortion movement took a tenth of the energy they put into noisy theatrics and devoted it to improving the lives of children who have been born into lives of poverty, violence, and neglect, they could make a world shine.

—Michael Jay Tucker

It is always the moralists who do the most harm. Abortion is the logical outcome of civilization, only the jungle gives birth and moulders away as nature decrees. Man plans.

—Max Frisch

No woman can call herself free who does not control her own body.
—Margaret Sanger

  • ''Listen to the pregnant woman. Value her. She values the life growing inside her. Listen to the pregnant woman, and you cannot help but defend her right to abortion.''

Huh? How can she value the life that is growing inside her if she wants to get rid of it? That's like saying ''I really value my iphone, lets throw it in the bin.''

    • You should throw your iphone away. #TeamSamsung 😂😂

    • Well, it's supposed to be amazing pro-choice quotes, right? Amazingly stupid indeed.

    • that was my point exactly.

  • Here's a revolutionary concept for you people (both men and women) - don't act like animals sleeping around with everything living that has two legs and you're not going to end up having to take care of a child you neither want nor deserve. Amazing, isn't it!

    • Why doesn't this have more likes? PREACH

    • Say that to my friend who got pregnant the first time she ever had sex. While she was on birth control.

    • You can still get pregnant from sleeping with one person

  • I'm against abortion in general speaking. If males got pregnant too, I would still be against abortion as much as when females gets pregnant. I'm critical to abortion because I thinks everybody deserves a chance in life and ending a person's life isn't the right way to go. I'm glad my biological mom didn't undergo abortion, something that was common if you couldn't take care of your child where she came from.

    • It was common undergoing abortion where she came from*

  • All these are just screaming WOMEN ARE VICTIMS so please take pity on us and let us choose. Women definitely have the choice now. The choice to keep their legs closed. However they don't look at it as a way to procreate because there is always the option to abort. Sex is foolishly being viewed as just another way to enjoy yourself with whom ever you like and when ever you like. People should wait to have sex until they are ready for the responsibility and weight of having a child. No birth control is 100% effective

    • Some people don't want to have kids ever. Some people have medical condition, are on medications, etc and CAN'T have kids without a huge issue (possibly life threatening). Yes birth control isn't 100% effective but saying "Be prepared to have kids or don't have sex... ever" is ridiculous.

    • Well there are exceptions for everything but when most people have sex generally on the 4th date. Then your pretty safe over generalizing.

  • If men could get pregnant, abortion would be a sacrament.
    —Florynce Kennedy

    probably very true

    • Funny how George Carlin just ranted and raved, if I wanted to pay to see somebody rant and rave, I'd file some meaningless lawsuit.

    • @Jackblue Well you couldn't pay to see him now. He was right though. A good chunk of those pro-life conservative types don't give a fuck about people after they are born. Unless they can benefit from you in some way.

  • Don't care if you support abortion, but if you call yourself pro choice but don't want people having the choice to pick schools, have guns, drink soda, smoke pot, practice religion, etc... don't call yourself pro choice. Same with pro-life, if you support death penalty, don't give donations to the less fortunate for vaccines and food, don't adopt, or limit on who can adopt kids, don't call yourself pro-life. Also if you are pro-choice and you want a kid, but have a miscarriage, don't cry about it because it was a clump of cells anyways.

    • Was with you until the last sentence. That's really fucking stupid and downright disrespectful and ignorant. Plenty of women who are pro-choice want to or have their own kids. Pro-choice means you respect women's right to choose, the freedom to choose. It doesn't necessarily mean you want to have an abortion yourself. I'm pro-choice but I wouldn't have an abortion myself (depends on the situation), but I wouldn't want to stop another woman from getting an abortion because it's not my business, it's not going to affect me personally, and I don't know what situation she is in for her to get an abortion so I will not judge her for it. That's the point of being pro-choice.

    • @helloitsmethere if it's a pro-choice woman who sees a fetus as just a clump of cells, then they shouldn't care if they have a miscarriage

    • Again, that makes no sense. Some miscarriages happen in the second trimester and you can't have an abortion in the second trimester.

  • "The emphasis must be not on the right to abortion but on the right to privacy..."
I don't see how murdering your offspring is a privacy right.

  • Hey, I am with you, but the fact remains, if you want this "right", you have to fight for it. Women are the majority in this nation and most of them voted for Trump, for the Republican controlled Senate, the Republican controlled House, and the for all the States Legislatures and Governorships that are majority controlled by Republicans.

You simply cannot state these quotes in a vacuum without considering most women voted against this notion of choice or at least considered it to be unimportant.

You cannot blame men. If there exists this womanhood that is constantly alluded to, then this falls on their shoulders primarily.

    • Most women didn't vote for trump, women voted for Clinton around 55% and I believe around 43% for Trump. On the other hand 53% of men voted for Trump You really gotta start owning this one guys. You voted Trump into office, not women Also out of all republican candidates Trump didn't exactly have strong anti abortion agenda neither does he know, as far as I know. So I don't quite see your point here I do agree in general tho, it's a miracle republicans ever get any votes considering how out of touch they are.

    • @nalaa Okay, you got me a little bit. You are right. Most women overall voted for Clinton. I mean to say "White" women. Most "White" women voted for Trump and "White" women are at the forefront of the women's equality movement. Also, you are not understanding my post in its entirety. Women are more numerous in nation than men, yet we are moving in a direction that feminists keep saying is wrong. That is not something you can put on men's shoulders. Your liberation, if you believe in such a thing, must come by your hands. Not someone else's.

    • Well I don't think it's fair to dismiss women who aren't white. What you said clearly a lie, misleading at best. Fact is most women did NOT vote for Trump, most men DID! But yes I agree women are in the majority and they should use their vote better.

  • LMAO I know you just wanna get pro-lifers pissed, but there's actually people who do think like this, which is why as a pro-abortion, it's very difficult to side with other pro-abortionists xD

    • I'm actually not trying to do that. Stay tune...

    • Come on... lmao

  • If you are pro-choice, does that mean you are also pro-equality?

Do you agree that a man should have the right to require an abortion?

    • I'm pro be an adult and make the best decision

  • I'm pro choice for the first two trimesters.

Every one of those quotes is just a way for pro choice people to high five each other.

None of them have any persuasive ability at all.

Pro lifers really believe abortion is murder. For real! It's not just some cover story to control women! If you want to persuade you have to put forward an argument why the unborn shouldn't have the rights of a human being at the stage being discussed. Period.

    • also if they truly believe abortion is murder, shouldn't the goal be to reduce abortions through I don't know free birth control, mandatory paid maternity leave, health insurance coverage for prenatal care, school lunch programs, subsidizing families that need the support...

    • @nalaa some are. Some aren't. Some don't see the connection. The most vocal pro lifers are the arch conservative ones but to some extent that's because liberal pro lifers are often denied a platform. The democrat part my for instance has had recent arguments over whether pro lifers could be in the party.

  • Why don't you get the baby's consent first?

    scontent.cdninstagram.com/.../..._1896197560_n.jpg

Then maybe we'll talk about why your baby needs to die.

    • A person is a biologically independent human being. Therefore an unborn human being is not a person. Therefore abortion is not a violation of the unborn's rights. The unborn has no rights.

    • @evenlift Biologically speaking, that definition is false. Why don't you crack open a biology book and see why?

    • The unborn is not biologically independent. It is attached to, and feeds off, the mother.

  • I completely support the right to abortion, but I have to say that these quotations show why the abortion rights movement is losing.

    1. So, why is male genital mutilation legal, while female genital mutilation is illegal, for example?

    2. So, we should dodge the argument and thereby hope to win the argument? Privacy as such is not a right. And 'reproductive control' is a confusing term. Control over whose reproduction?

    3. If abortion were murder (as the anti-abortion people claim), the government should do everything to stamp it out, just as it should with any other type of murder. As for 'access to services', this is an attempt to conflate the genuine right to have an abortion with the fake 'right' to force someone else to pay for it.

    4. The issue, again, is abortion. I doubt that Howard Dean believes that everyone should be allowed to do everything. Otherwise, a 'right-wing pastor' could decide to try to force women not to get abortions!

    5. Appeal to emotion.

    6. I doubt that she is advocating the legalization of the ending of any life.

    7. Irrelevant, except to show that the right wing is just as statist as the left wing.

    8. What a way to advocate for legal abortion, by falsely conceding that morality is on the side of its opponents! He is right about primitivism, though. But, by implicitly criticizing the green movement, he is showing just how untenable abortion rights advocacy is without the premise of rational selfishness. That is why we are losing.

    9. The only good quotation here.

  • amazing? nah.

  • I always chuckle when women bring the it's her body thing into it.

Takes 2 to make a baby.

The baby is it's own living entity and has it's own body it's not actually part of a woman's body like a leg or a arm is.

Sorry but I'm not going to pity bad decision making.

You had unprotected sex you fucked up, your an idiot for doing so, don't try to run from the responsibility the life you just created like it's a minor inconvenience like a log in the middle of the road.

Yuo don't want to take care of a child? Then maybe women should have thought about that before they decided to go and act like one, having sex without protection without thinking, disregarding logical thinking and any sense of responsibility.

"If men could get pregnant, abortion would be a sacrament."
    —Florynce Kennedy

"No if men could get pregnant we'd take responsibility for our own fucking actions"
    -Me

What I just said above goes for both women and men by the way. Stop acting like hormonal children/teens on the last day of earth.

    • If a woman was raped and became pregnant, would you want her to have the child?

    • @StrawberryKitty yes of course

    • @timesplittersxsxd What if she was still in school or not ready to care for a child? Also, how would you feel to be in this woman's position?

    • Show All
  • I agree 100%, awesome Take.

  • A lot of pro lifers are hypocrites anyways. They want the baby, that isn't even theirs, to be born so badly but once that baby is finally born then they don't give a shit about them.

Abortion should never be a go to option for contraception, but if the parents can't afford to give the kid a good quality life then is it worth bringing the kid into the world.

If you're that against abortion, simple, don't get one.

    • thats like saying if you're against murder dont murder.

    • @DontStepOnTheCat that's bullshit.

    • no its reality.

  • Pro-Choice:
You can choose to get an abortion, you can choose to keep the baby.
Just don't harass anyone for making a decision that isn't going to affect you personally.
Also, understand and accept that not everyone has the same belief system as you in this country.
    Capisce? Okay.

    • I can feel a little anger there...

    • I don't harass people for their decisions unless they impede other peoples ability to pursue life, liberty, and property.

    • Lmao I'm not angry.
