4 Reasons Why Right-Wingers Despise Gay Marriage and LBTWHEQ Stuff

So, many of you have no right wing friends, or no right wing friends who can explain things, and hence don't understand why the right mostly opposes things gay/lesbian/transgender/whatever.

Well! Never fear. In no particular order, I will explain the reasons behind why many Right Wing people oppose it. Depending on the person, one reason may apply, or all.

1. Christianity

Why the Right Wing Dislikes Gay Marriage/LBTWHEQ Stuff

Yes, the Bible says homosexuality is bad. I know you were lied to by that guy who "knew what he was talking about" but the Bible condemns homosexuality as a bad sin. Because some of you won't believe me unless I quote it... here you go. Romans 1:21-27.

For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.

24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

Why is this? Why does God care about who you bang? The theology is that God made men and women to be together, fulfilling each other in different ways, similar to how Christ and the Church (the bride of Christ) are matched. Hence, gays or lesbians or transgenders are kind of a "fuck you God, we'll make our own rules!" He doesn't appreciate it.

2. Societal change

I know, you won't believe me when I try to explain how promotion and acceptance of things common in homosexual relationships, like extreme promiscuity, will impact society and regular family formation and marriage. You'll probably think Right Wing people who think so are stupid.Sooo, I'm not going to try to summarize it.

I'll let Masha Gessen, a famous lesbian activist, summarize it.

4 Reasons Why Right-Wingers Despise Gay Marriage and LBTWHEQ Stuff

Here's her(?) wikipedia page of fame. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masha_Gessen

According to one 2013 radio interview she gave... https://www.abc.net.au/radionational/programs/lifematters/why-get-married/4058506

“It’s a no-brainer that (homosexual activists) should have the right to marry, but I also think equally that it’s a no-brainer that the institution of marriage should not exist. …(F)ighting for gay marriage generally involves lying about what we are going to do with marriage when we get there — because we lie that the institution of marriage is not going to change, and that is a lie.

The institution of marriage is going to change, and it should change. And again, I don’t think it should exist. And I don’t like taking part in creating fictions about my life. That’s sort of not what I had in mind when I came out thirty years ago.

Not well liked by Right Wing people.

3. Cost

4 Reasons Why Right-Wingers Despise Gay Marriage and LBTWHEQ Stuff

Whether it's due to gay men being too stupid to know how to use condoms... or things like Bug Chasing, where gay men specifically seek to "give" or "get" STD's, https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/bug-chasing-men-deliberately-trying-2033433 gays have an INSANELY high STD rate.

According to the CDC, men who have sex with men are 2% of the population in the USA... and have 17 times higher rate of anal cancer, and account for 75% of primary and secondary syphilis cases. They also have 57% of HIV infections. https://www.cdc.gov/msmhealth/STD.htm

https://www.cdc.gov/hiv/risk/gender/msm/facts/index.html

Oh, and apparently the cost of HIV is about $379,000 for a lifetime. And that's in 2010 dollars. https://www.healthline.com/health/hiv-aids/monthly-cost-treating-hiv

4. Style

4 Reasons Why Right-Wingers Despise Gay Marriage and LBTWHEQ Stuff

Let's be real. Gay people, in general, have similar "protest" style to Westboro Baptist Church. If you're pro gay you love it, if you don't want it in your face you'll hate it. This provokes people to take sides. And get irate at gay men thrusting in public while mostly naked.

There you have it! Some of the reasons behind why many Right Wing people, or even more regular folk, highly dislike homosexuality. May you be a bit more enlightened.

  • This is a nice, rational Take and I appreciate the attempt, really I do, even while disagreeing. However, I know several right-wingers and I can sum up why they oppose homosexuality with one quasi-word interjection:

    "Ewwwww."

Because really, in both hetero- and gay-land, you can support or oppose promiscuity, marriage and safe sex. I promise you, there are both straight and gay careless and "polyamorous" people.

    • Also, stop hiding behind Jesus, because he teaches you to neither judge nor hate. Matthew 7:1-3

    • "This is a nice, rational Take" While it could be less rational, I'd argue that it's not rational. To give the incidence of HIV and the cost associated with that as a reason against formalised monogamy for gays seems quite ridiculous.

  • I already knew all of this but thank you for trying to explain it to people who don't.

I personally am pro-gay marriage but I get that not everybody is, if we all were this would have never been an issue in the first place-lol.

  • I think homosexuality is a sin. Everyone is born into sin and has a desire to sin in one way or another. One wants to steal, one wants to kill, one wants to have sex with children, one wants to be homosexual. That doesn't mean God (or Christians) hate them, what they don't like is the in-your-face hate toward Christians and Christianity. They have their culture and they hate Christians cuz their culture is different than theirs, bigotry. Christians can be bigots toward them too. I view marriage as a union God recognizes between a man and a woman. Homosexuals can have a civil union in the eyes of the govt but it's not recognized by God so no matter what they do or say, it's not marriage and I don't see them as married. Beyond that, I have no reason to worry or think about it. Problem settled.

    • One might argue that the laws changing impact society, culture, and christian culture, regardless of whether God recognizes gay marriage or not. Simple example being--the Bible forbids divorce except for adultery. Society says divorce is fine. Many pastors say divorce is fine in a lot of different cases.

    • I totally understand what you are saying but remember, we have been told this world will be evil and will fall. Expect it and be ready for it. Don't be scared, I read the end of the book, we will be ok. The worst thing that can happen is dying, then we get to go home, where were meant to be. There's nothing anyone can do to affect our soul. We are God's children and nothing will take us out of his hands, no matter what happens in this evil world. Don't worry about it but know what is happening.

  • If you're worried about the cost of HIV and it's prevalence in gay men, then encouraging them to be monogamous (married) would be the sensible thing to do.

  • That's some real back of the closet self hatred right there.

    • He's in Narnia...

    • @Bysshe haha hanging out with Aslan

  • i think gays get a lot of media exposure for no reason. some gay parades are really just order disturbance. but what can i say, its the golden age of gay sex.

  • because it's about people having opinions, which you don't like..
