A Look at the Manosphere (Part 1)

As promised from my other myTake on the MRA here are the websites that the Southern Poverty Law Center listed as hate sites. I've been busy as of lately and haven't been able to dedicate as much time as needed to this myTake on the manosphere. So I will be making this part 1 of 2 for "A Look at the Manosphere". Since being listed as hate sites some of these sites have shutdown, erased comments from users, or taken down post. But not before screen shots and qoutes could be taken that helped them make the list.

The “manosphere” is filled with hundreds of websites, blogs and forums dedicated to attacking feminists foremost and women, very typically American women, in general. Although some of the sites make an attempt at civility and try to back their arguments with facts, they are almost all thick with misogynistic attacks that can be astounding for the guttural hatred they express. What follows are brief descriptions of four of these sites.

Alcuin
Alcuin is a blog that promotes the “Intellectual Renaissance of the Western Tradition.” On one of his posts he states:

Men should run the government, business, education, and religion. Women should stay at home. Young unmarried women can briefly work as kindergarten and elementary teachers, but there are no reasons why men can’t usually do this as well."

There is also this tidbit:

Women have no business being lawyers, judges, educators, doctors, bureaucrats, writers, or religious leaders. Their attempted leadership in these areas, an illegitimate coup d’etat, is destroying our society.

The post called "Back Where They Belong" can be found on his blog. If you are lucky (or unlucky) enough to be provided access you can view it. Some of the other topics he touches on is rape, female "beauty", the nature of females, and how feminist are nazis or the new KKK without the sheets. I often see GAG members call feminist feminazis and a hate group so I wouldn't be surprised with users agreeing with him.

Boycott American Women
This site’s mission statement is

I am an American man, and I have decided to boycott American women. In a nutshell, American women are the most likely to cheat on you, to divorce you, to get fat, to steal half of your money in the divorce courts, don't know how to cook or clean, don't want to have children, etc. Therefore, what intelligent man would want to get involved with American women?

American women are generally immature, selfish, extremely arrogant and self-centered, mentally unstable, irresponsible, and highly unchaste. The behavior of most American women is utterly disgusting, to say the least.

This blog is my attempt to explain why I feel American women are inferior to foreign women (non-American women), and why American men should boycott American women, and date/marry only foreign (non-American) women.

The site is filled with comments from users, like the recent one that said: “I think we should export all American [sic] bitches to other countries and take in women from other places. … Have you noticed how fat these sluts get AT AN EARLY AGE… . [I]f you were allowed to beat your wife we wouldn’t be dealing with this crap.”

The Counter Feminist (It's new site: The Counter Feminist 2)
Its tagline, “The female-supremacist hate movement called ‘feminism’ must be opened to the disinfecting sunlight of the world’s gaze and held to a stern accounting for its grievous transgressions.” The website is run by "Fidelbogen.” He is an unidentified Washington state man who operates the blog, and runs the Counter-Feminist YouTube Channel. Recent headlines, like January’s “Can Feminists and Non-feminists co-exist?” In the post he states:

Let’s face it, we are in a growing culture war between two sectors of humanity – the feminist sector, and the non-feminist sector.

This reflects the same sensibility as the tagline. There is also this post he made in regards to men's issues vs feminism.

A Look at the Manosphere (Part 1)

Unfortunately during the move Fidelbogen took down the post but a snapshot was luckily taken.

The False Rape Society
The False Rape Society is an Internet news aggregator, subtitled “Community of the Falsely Accused,” that features stories about allegedly false rape accusations and “feminist”-crafted “anti-male” legislation. While the site focuses heavily on news stories about false rape allegations, it will briefly address the misbehaviors of males in regard to rape. Such as the University of Vermont fraternity that sent out a survey that allegedly asked, “If you could rape someone, who would it be?”. Pierce Harlan responds by posting "I assume the survey was sick humor, a crude satire of the fratboy culture, and perhaps a poke at feminism’s fascination with rape." but also calls it "indefensible". Skip a ahead in the post and he writes:

There most certainly will be an outcry in the feminist blogosphere over this isolated incident, and it will be cited as proof positive to support the myth that ours is a "rape culture." A "rape culture," of course, not only would tolerate but would condone such a puerile survey. Our society does neither.

Unfortunately for Pierce some of his fellow brothern disagree. One user(bad) wrote:

We should be celebrating young men who stand up against misandry. We should be celebrating the frat that said “no means yes” and we should be celebrating the frat that created this survey, if it’s a real story.

A second user(anonymous) wrote:

I do not condemn this action,

in fact, I wish I’d thought of it.

It is a brilliant and very appropriate response to the way young men are being treated by college campuses.

When the answer to “who would you like to treat like a rapist” is “all college men”, I think that asking them who they’d like to rape is more than fair.

Pierce responds with:

By the way, I read the reaction of Bad and others as a natural backlash … against the unconscionable PC culture of misandry on campus. I happen to disagree with those who suggest this was acceptable, but their remarks should not be construed as evidence that we live in a “rape culture.” Like Steve, I read their comments more as an affirmation that we live in a false rape culture–a culture that more and more men are finding intolerable.

As mentioned in the beginning of the post some of these websites call for civilty but do little or nothing to keep it in check. Instead they choose to agree (or "understand") while subtly disagreeing at the same time.

Part 2 on the way!

  • While feminists brag about liberating women from patriarchal homes, they don’t seem to mind the fact that women are now enslaved in corporations where they are worked to a point of exhaustion. It’s clear to us that feminists are more concerned with destroying families for the sake of their ideology than they are with promoting women’s welfare.

The vast majority of today’s women have bought into the false promise from feminists that they could have it all without any consequences—we merely want to tell women to be realistic about their life choices. Women must know that there is a price to be paid for opting the Sex and the City type of lifestyle and that they must choose between motherhood and career. As they say: Don’t shoot the messenger.

    • Trust me, we are happy to work so we don’t have to end up with men like you. Corporations haven’t enslaved women anymore than they have men. Corporations treat women better than mom and pops. If you think for one moment that I’m going to stop working and just accept men who would rather see me dead than to be able to vote, you can kiss my ass.

  • So basically it's just like feminism sites, but for jaded males instead of jaded females. Ok. There are lots of nuts out there. Your point?

    • Apparently you see feminist as misandrist.

    • These nuts got child support reduced to practically nothing. These nuts are going out murdering women and children.
