  • Despite what most people say it is definitely a mental thing.

There is lots that involves the workings of the little guy down there. Yes appearance, health, mental.

If you have an extremely shy guy, chances are he will struggle performing on the first attempt. As he get more comfortable with you and more relaxed it will happen.

  • I would say 50-50. The proportions may change depending on my mood or my partner. Yes, partners i find very attractive help me get stronger erections but my mood at the time is determinant as well. If i am too tired or my mind is somewhere else I may have different performance no matter how attractive my partner is.

  • Erections are physical. They are caused by blood flow to the penis. In fact, sometimes they're caused by completely random things or have no cause at all.

While sexual arousal is a very obvious cause, it can also be a few other things.

    • I didn’t mean physical as far as the erection itself but physical as in just looking at a pretty face gives them a hard on something like that

    • It depends on the guy and how sensitive they are to arousal. A teenage boy with very unbalanced hormones may get an erection from a sock that looks like a woman while a well dignified 34 year old man might have trouble getting aroused at all.

    • This 17 yo spreading wisdom 🤦‍♂️

  • Well, they are mental, yes, but physical appearance can still play an important role.

An erection is simply caused by arousal (in most cases), but the trigger can be anything that causes that arousal. An attractive person, an erotic conversation, sexy words spoken by someone, a daydream/fantasy, a sexual situation, etc.

Whatever it is that appeals to that specific guy can/will trigger the arousal in his mind which will lead to an erection.

  • as long as there's somit that interests you , it doesn't really matter i guess... 🤷🏻‍♂️ questions like this are hard lol , but thats what I think at least

  • Yes, erections come from increased blood flow which the brain directs. However the eyes can signal the brain to increase the flow when they see something stimulating.

  • they are often involuntary but they do kind of rely on sexual arousal which is often appearance based

  • Pretty much.. Like yeah you have a physical attraction level for the innitial liking of someone.. But once you like someone it's more about who they are that makes you want them..

  • Im gonna say both.

  • they are of course a mental thing. but the physical appearance of your partner enters your mind by seeing them, so it is a big part of that.

  • In my personal experience, yes. I couldn't get it up for a female friend, on her request, due to performance anxiety.

  • Lol appearance is the #1 to make erections

  • They are absolutely mental

  • A mental thing? Look at his crotch; does that look mental to you?

  • It has a lot to do with the physical appearance of a partner and to physical attraction in general but that really includes an aura of a person too sort to say. I also say this because often happen to me to have an unwillingly errection for a person I don't know at all

  • They are a lot of things.
    Smell can trigger them
    Sound
    Taste
    Feel
    the look of something
    the thought of something
they even happen on their own for many reasons, non-sexual.

  • How is the appearance of your partner not a mental thing? Appearance signals certain things to the primal brain. You ladies should know this all too well.

  • Both.
if you flirt right, it’ll happen.

  • Sometimes I get one if the wind blows right. Though when I was in college I walked around all day with an erection.
