Are games like 3DxChat cheating?

I'm a married man and I've been with my wife since early highschool. I love her very much, but we have different levels of... libido. I bought myself a fleshlight and got her a vibrator because I was ashamed of having a sex toy without her having one to "balance it out." While my toy gets used frequently, I can tell she's not really into hers. Recently, I've been playing games like 3DxChat wich is kind of like IMVU I suppose and I'm fighting a bit of an internal battle with myself over it. I love my wife, but I've got needs that I know she's willing to fulfill, but not as often as I need it. I DON'T want to cheat on her, but I need some kind of release. I always roleplay as a bisexual girl and I always play as if I'm just an observer. Yes, I am controlling the character, but as far as I'm concerned my character is having a relationship with another person's character and NOT me having a relationship with another person. But still... I feel ashamed about this and I'm worried that I'm inadvertently cheating on my wife. I, personally, don't consider it cheating because I'm more interested in the story of the Roleplay than the actual..."act." I've kept the game a secret from her, but I also keep my porn-viewing habits a secret too and that's not cheating... I just need to know from the masses: If I'm playing as someone that I'm not, keeping it to the game, and it doesn't hurt or affect my real relationship with my wife, is it cheating? Even when the other person breaks roleplay "conduct" and ask about real-life details, I invent a new person and give them "her" details (fake likes/dislikes, fake physical details, etc etc). I don't do this to be malicious, but because I don't want my two "lives" to cross and I want to protect mine and my wife's identity.

  • I agree with the previous comment. As long as you keep the fun in the game and it never crosses over into other factors of your life then there is nothing to worry about. Kind of like reading/writing a naughty romance book, with 3d models.

If you do have an significant other, I personally would stay away from engaging in DMs outside of the game. Based on my experiences, things seem to escalate when the environment changes and people are no longer bound by the game. (just my two cents)

  • As long as you keep them as a virtual game..
I was married in imvu and I also have my partner at home. . And everything was fine.
