Are guys horny all the time?

Is this just a stereotype or are you guys actually horny most of the time? If so how do you deal with it daily? Especially at work? Feels like it would be annoying and distracting as hell!

    The most difficult time for most guys tends to be in the 12-16 years of age range - the years following puberty. Not only are we horny ALL the time, but we also don't know how to manage it, and we have to learn to compartmentalize that part of our brains so that we can focus on other things. When you're that young, it takes real mental work to do this, but over time, we learn to do that on autopilot - I think a lot of guys don't even realize they do it. It's kind of like if you had to hold a 2 pound weight in the air all day - when you first start, your muscles would burn and you'd be exhausted and getting anything else done would be nearly impossible, but after a while, your muscles would grow and adjust, and while it would be inconvenient a lot of the time, it wouldn't feel so impossible.

    To extend that metaphor, guys are mentally "holding up the weight" (keeping control of their libido) anytime they're around other people. When they're alone, or when he's around his girl, or otherwise in a situation where his horniness and/or erection wouldn't be a problem, he will usually relax that control - he'll "set down the weight." Maybe he's watching TV or reading a book or working on the car, and for whatever reason, a sexy thought crosses his mind - in that relaxed state, he'll often suddenly feel horny, or get an erection, because he's not keeping that part of his brain on lockdown. To be fair, he can think about something else, and usually that feeling will pass and/or the erection will go down, but it's a good demonstration of why guys normally compartmentalize those feelings and desires and keep them on lockdown in public - or, at least, most guys do, most of the time.

    It's also true that a man's libido diminishes a bit as he ages - at 52, mine is probably only 75% of what it was at 20, so it's almost reasonable. LOL.

  • When was going through puberty sure that might have been the case. But in general it a very overblown stereotype. Also I be the first to say I'm pretty far from a horn dog. Because I am not a fan to down time. I'm pretty much always doing something a lot of the time. So I don't really have time to sit around thinking about sex.
