There is a cultural difference that I've noticed too.
A lot of the Filipino people who've immigrated to Canada will work as many jobs as they can, but send money back to their families in the Philippines. The Filipina women I've met in Canada who have a husband who makes enough money, are very family oriented (At least while the children are young and need constant care). In the Philippines there isn't as much opportunity to become rich or independent so they always seem to work to contribute to the whole family.
Some of the women I've chatted with online WERE always trying to make me happy I guess. Of course some of them are very traditional and do expect a man to be a man and provide as well. They are very into their beauty and taking care of themselves. Family get togethers are very important to them and raising their kids. They do like to laugh and visit, and have a sense of community. There's lots of truth in the video.
