Are these signs that a young toddler was sexually abused?

She started masturbating at a very early age and touching her privates. She humps the bed and holds in her pee because it gives her a sensation but she has no memory of being sexually abused. Please just answer the question without any other comment.

  • There are examples of young children who stimulate themselves without realising it is sexual, it just feels pleasant - It is society that imposes the stigma on masturbation not personal guilt.
However child abuse is such a delicate issue and needs to bechandled carefully. If child was abused and has no memories, there are other signs flinching to touch, distrustful of people etc. They can become promiscous as they get older view intimacy as a physical rather than an emotional act. High levels of prostitutes would have been victims of child abuse.
Last point depends on the child personality, if you think something is aversely affecting it take no chances. If child seems normal, have to go benefit of doubt.
Sorry for commenting and not voting just my answer fell between two options.

    • Thank you. I think it was just some sillyness I went through as a toddler.

    • It is serious but as I said only if it affects your personality aversely as you grow up should it become an issue. My own silliness is being touched without knowing people are there. I have elbowed a couple of people in the head when they hugged me from behind so don't sneak up on me LOL.

    • lol I see.

  • No it's not a sign that she was sexually abused, it's just a sign that she has a higher sexual drive than some other people. Then her body might just have matured earlier than normal. There is nothing weird about it, she's just a little bit different.

    • I do seem to have a higher sexual drive so thank you.

  • A lot of young children touch themselves or otherwise stimulate their genitals because it feels good. It's not necessarily masturbation in the sense of a post puberty person, as sex hormones haven't set in. Closer to stroking hair, rubbing lips, etc. Lots of nerve endings causes good feelings and can be comforting. So that behavior doesn't necessarily signal abuse.

Aside from bodily harm like swelling or bruises, signs of sexual abuse are often behavioral changes like being anxious, clingy, fearful, withdrawn. Nightmares, bed wetting after its long been stopped. there's a lot info out on the web. Rainn is a great organization, just to name one.

    • Thank you. I had nightmares about people touching me but it is a big fear of mine so its not a big deal.

    • Both nightmares and compulsive soothing activities can also be a sign of stress and/or anxiety from other sources, heredity, etc...

    • I do have anxiety but I don't think I was sexually abused. Thank you.

  • Children usually discover their genitals at the age of 3 or so, so I wouldn't exactly call this uncommon

    • Thank you.

  • No that's not a sign lol most people just explore their body and they find something they like it just happens.

    • Seems legit. I wonder though, what French word of the day might be given if I were to be given one... How are you?

  • Not necessarily. Some girls hit puberty sooner, or start found out about that stuff by accident, and started doing it even before puberty.

    • No need to hit puberty for that.

    • Thank you.

    • No problem

  • No, lots of young children masturbate. Sexual abuse behaviors are listed below:

  • this is a very sensitive issue, but i can talk from experience. (oh gosh that sounds bad )

Anyway My cousin had mental illness and used to have a younger brother about a toddler age, and he would

    • do stuff to his younger brother, i noticed that he was doing what you said when he had his nappy changed

    • although my disturbed cousin has grown out of that now

    • That is very disturbing. I hope his younger brother is well now.

  • How young are we speaking here? Some people hit puberty really young

    • Children don't need to hit puberty to discover the fun of humping and masturbation. The asexual child is a myth.

    • @jacquesvol True boys do masturbate in the womb and get erections. Something no mother wants to know lol. My point it we become more curious about our bodies and learn things as we hit puberty.

    • Wut. Boys masturbating in the womb. Want to list a source? I was about younger than 5 I think.

  • My Cousin did it when he was younger. He was never abused. Sometimes kids can be a bit funny.

    • Eh I was a strange kid so no surprises.

    • Yeah. :).

  • Toddlers can discover very early by themselves they get a god feeling touching their privates or humping something.

Are you out to take revenge on someone?

    • Okay. Don't be foolish enough to state something so fucking ridiculous on a serious question.

    • Just see how common it is for a toddler to touch his privates: www.lmgtfy.com/?q=toddler+touching+his+genitals
