Are you afraid of giving CPR to the opposite gender because of a possibility of false allegations of sexual assault?

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is an emergency procedure that combines chest compressions often with artificial ventilation in an effort to manually preserve intact brain function until further measures are taken to restore spontaneous blood circulation and breathing in a person who is in cardiac arrest.

  • Normally, when someone is actually in bed of a CPR there are people around. They can act as witnesses.
If you are alone, then the trauma received to the thorax is clear enough evidence of what you did.
Still, making an audio recording just in case would not be a bad idea.

  • Nope. And the CPR classes I have had make a point of removing underwire bras because the wires could puncture the skin, and they can also mess with the current in the shock of the AED should that become necessary. Have to be real cautious, but it is saving a life!

  • Nope. If you do everything right and how you are trained the person can't sue you. You would be protected under the good samaritan law. At least in the United States.

  • No im afraid of giving cpr cause I don't know wtf im doing. I took a semester course to learn and it was hard af. I tired myself out trying to save the cpr dummy

  • Modern CPR for the ones fearful of that lip on lip contact, involves just doing chest compressions. Those are more important in the grand scheme of things.

Everyone should learn how to do proper chest compressions, it could save a life.

    • That I would do, the lip thing nope though unless im dating the person/married to them.

  • Not a problem, however B goes against the basic principles of first aid.

There is a any cost risk assessment when you look to save someone.

the greatest risks are blood borne and saliva bourne stuff, Hep etc.

the risk of sexual assault allegations are very low.

  • I would give CPR, provided I have someone to watch over me, in case some problems were to arise later

  • Nope. I’m infinitely more concerned with getting herpes.

  • Doing it properly don't need to go near the boobs.

    • ? Not at all.. the pressure point is situated 2 finger higher the thoracic cage junction.. it means straight in between the nipple

  • I'd be more worried about catching a disease honestly, I wouldn't do cpr on anyone that wasn't my spouse (I'm not having kids ever, but if I had kids, of course I would do anything to safe their life). but I'm not putting my mouth in a stranger, just ew.

  • I have an O2 tank and mask set up in the trunk of my car, so... as long as I'm near my car I don't have to make this call, and the CPR will be more effective.

If not, I'll do CPR the old fashioned way and not worry about it. If it's successful she'll be in so much pain from her broken ribcage that I doubt she'll be thinking about anything else.

  • i don't know about your area but in germany, there's actually a law that makes denial of assistance a punishable offense... so since i might get fucked either way, i'd just do the thing that feels morally right to me in the moment and then face the consequences later.

    • of course i wouldn't jeopardize my own life or health to help someone. that's too far.

  • That's an interesting question, but If I knew CPR than I think I would help. The other issue is catching covid from a person.

  • No, I'm not a ridiculous idiot.

  • Unless they have a DNR then it wouldn't stand up in court. Imagine trying to argue that someone trying to save your life sexually assaulted you. These people are the kind that would also be pissed that noone decided to help them if they were in need of CPR

You can't win with those types. It would get dismissed as a frivilous law suit

  • I would start the prayer for a departing soul that would happen soon.

  • Fist of all. I don’t know how to give CPR. But if I knew, I would definitely save her.

  • You’re saving someone’s life! Snap out of it!

  • I've given CPR, and it doesn't matter if the person is male or female. Just save the life.

  • Yes, I am.

  • I would be very hesitant to perform CPR on a female stranger for that reason.

  • I would rather let 1000 feminists die than try to save them

    • And how would you know? The woman in question may not be a feminist.

    • @Agape93 it was a joke. Notice that I didn't add anything at the end about risking sexual harassment charges. I just stated that I would rather let feminists die.

    • Ohhhhhh ok gotcha lol
