Sure. No, crying doesn't help haha. I will say I was a bit confused. What I remember was learning at age 12 that at some point my body would change and that I would start to have sperm come out in wet dreams. I was told that as soon as pubic hair appeared, it would be only a matter of time. Once the hair actually did appear, I remember starting to have more erections than normal. They would show up out of nowhere. Once it finally did happen like I outlined above, I remember feeling sort of scared or guilty, like my body did something it wasn't supposed to do. Once I started experimenting, I would feel similar after each time. After ejaculation, a guy is pretty disinterested anyway but that makes the guilt and being scared sort of worse. It gets better over time though as you start to understand your body. Its more predictable as to what will happen each time you masturbate so the shock and the fear of not being able to stop ejaculation is not as bad over time as the mind matures.

I m not sure if its a son or daughter you are concerned about. My perspective is just a boy's. I'm sure masturbating for a girl is a completely different set of emotions as well as physical. As far as I know the normal age of starting masturbating is somewhere between 9 and 15, depending on the person and their hormonal development. There are of course some who start even earlier and others who never do it.

There is no scientific studies that show that masturbation have any effect on body and the body’s biochemistry, other than releasing endorphins and dopamin as a reward.

It is however scientifically proven that during puberty the frequency of masturbation might increase, as the hormonal changes in the teen often increase the libido.
