There is no such thing as a "legitimate" excuse for cheating. All an excuse is, is a bs attempt to shift blame to something or someone else. There is only one real reason for cheating, and that is selfishness.

Absolutely cheating! I think I'd ask her if the roles were reversed what her response would be. I'd never do anything like that, and I've had more than a few chances.
