Being a virgin at 17, normal?

Is it normal to be a Virgin if you're about to be 18 especially when all your friends aren't & everybody in high school is getting pregnant.. My friends will talk about their sex life's & I'll just be sitting there like; "ummmm ok." I feel.. I don't know it's hard to explain. -.-

I'm almost 24 and never kissed a girl. Being 17 and a virgin is absolutely normal. Not that many 16 and under year-olds have intercourse as you think. You got nothing to feel bad about. Plus, not feeling ready or not discovering the right guy are signs that you should not be having sex yet. No matter what age you are, you must feel comfortable and have the right guy before having sex. People get those at all kinds of ages.

You are so much better off! Don't be like the other girls getting pregnant seriously. It's ridiculous. It ruins your chances at ever building a future, you become undateable to almost all guys out there, and you possibly can get STDs. Having sex is ok and all, but so many girls are irresponsible about it. Plus I don't know what kinda friends you got but blatantly talking about sexual encounters openly is way TMI!

I'm 18 and I'm a virgin. It's totally normal and nothing to be ashamed about. No offence to your peers, I don't think it's okay to be getting pregnant; should be having safe sex.
I'm just waiting for the right moment, I'm not rushing into anything. If it happens, it happens. I just don't want to lose it to a random or a guy that I'm not interested in.

It's totally normal :) most of my friends lost their virginity around 18, some around 21. You don't have to do it because the other do it. I know that out of respect I try not to talk too much bout sex in front of my virgins friends because as you said...they can't share their experiences and they feel left out.

But I have multiple friends who have chosen to remain celibate.

I don't really think either option can be defined at normal.

Very normal, it's also normal for friends at that age to lie through their teeth about their sexual experiences. I mean most people I went to school with either lied about having sex, or they became single parents before the school years ended...

Of course it is. There's nothing wrong with that at all. Plenty of people still wait until they are married. Why in such a rush? Its really not a big deal.

Well... that happens. When your friends go through things you're not going through (become sexually active, get a boyfriend/girlfriend, start having children), you get left out. As for being a virgin, it's not the most common thing at your age but you're not the only one, by far.
