Breast feeding troubles?

I've been sitting on this for while and spoke to my GP about this and he issued me a nipple shield so bit of back story Baby Lauren is 10 months old and up to when my period started a couple of days ago she was feeding fine till I noticed she was refusing to latch on to my nipple, I thought a stray hair had grown on it but it was clear, I used a pump and it extracted my milk fine, I put it up to her feeling poorly, comes to next feed she was fine till she sucks on a bit to hard and ,when I took her off my nipple had retreated into my breast, I took a cold shower but it didn't budge, when I tried the nipple shield my nipple didn't do a think. Can anyone breastfeeding mom's offer ant advice or any useful websites.

  • wow.. never heard of that..

usually i just got infections and of course, the baby has destroyed my sexy nipples... my areolas are huge and misshapen and even 3 mos after I stopped breastfeeding, my nipples are like 1-1.5 inches long... gross looking to me..

at least my husband doesn't seem to care... he says I look sexy AF with big breasts and nipples... the reason I love him.

    • Are we talking nipples and areola that stick out from your bra.

    • no, i wear heavy thick maternity bras coz I was leaking a lot even with nursing pads. and yes, sometimes, there is a noticeable nipple bump that shows.. just not like they do when I wear a normal bra. I mean they are gross to me looking in a mirror coz my areolas used to be small like the size of a nickle and nipples were like HS pencil erasers you put over a worn out one on your pencil. Part of being a mother and breastfeeding... My obgyn "says" they may eventually go back to almost normal when I no longer am breastfeeding.. just come July 23rdish, I have my baby and will be breastfeeding again.
