Well the original purpos of this site was to be able to live from things like art. The site turned quickly in to a plattform for nudes, lewds and sex/sexual content because they didn't ban 18 stuff. You can still find people that use this site for "normal" stuff but it is rare. Once onlyfans said that they want to ban 18 content the majority of their income (the income through the 18 content contentcreator) was going to fansly. This lead onlyfans to not baning 18 content. You can find almost every typ of 18 content on there and the prices can vary extremely. There are sites that are free, there are sites that are free but only post teasers to their paid site and there are paid sites with prices from 1$ up to no limit

I think onlyfans is only useful if there’s a specific person you really want to see content from. Like a celebrity or influencer.
If there’s nobody specific that you want to subscribe to, then I don’t see the point in paying for random peoples pictures when you can look up pics for free.
Then again, OF is also more ethical than supporting other porn companies. At least the women on OF are in charge of their own content, while there’s a lot of shady shit that goes on behind the scenes of pornhub or other sites.
If I would add to the explanation in my own question, what distinguishes this site from other porn sites is the curiosity about the privacy of people who are globally known or we know in daily life. Onlyfans gives you this opportunity and it's normal to support the people and content you love. You are thinking shallow. In addition, the content on the site is not limited to only sexuality. You can support people's efforts in many areas. Nothing is as easy as it seems from the outside. If there is a labor involved, it must be rewarded.
