I suppose that'd be when I was about 6 or 8 years old. I went to the river and saw a bunch of older kids swimming in it there and just figured it was safe for me, too. Dad said he and his friends used to swim there when they were kids. I was only going in right next to the shore so, it COULDN'T be THAT deep!! I didn't know how to swim, yet and, as soon as I set foot in the water, I sank like a rock into water at least 8 feet deep!! I was right beside a train trestle support and had already WALKED into the river on the other side of the support with my dad but, what I didn't know was that, with the current going around that stone support, it was washing away the sand around the base of it!! I nearly drowned and the only ting that kept me from it was these 1' holes drilled into these huge stones every few feet that I could stick my fingers into and one of the older kids that saw me going down and jumped in to save me.
The way my life is, now, maybe he should've LET ME drown!! It's not like anybody would've ever missed me!
