Denied sex because I wasn't shaved down there. Why is a hairy vagina considered such a turn off nowadays?

Am 28 years old married woman. I am a working woman as well as a homemaker. From past one month I have been leading a very busy life and after a long time, me and my husband were about to get intimate last night and he denied me sex saying that my pussy isn't shaved. Am like wth I last shaved it just two weeks back and it's not so hairy and it looks just well trimmed. I know he likes it shaved down there but I can't believe he said that because I usually maintain a good hygiene and wish he could have been bit more understanding considering how busy I was. Am really pissed off by his behavior.
My question is if a hairy private area for women such a big turnoff to an extent that sex should be denied because of it? Has any women experienced a similar situation like me?
