Do any of you have experience with IUDs?
I'm nervous and I was hoping someone with experience could help!
You must have already thought this out and discussed it with your doctor. Asking for others to share their experiences because you are nervous could just make your nervousness worse. Accept that you are going with a method that has a favorable history and is generally pretty safe. No reason to agitate yourself.
Thanks. Hearing a few people that have had it with good results will bring my heart rate down some! ;)
@funnygirl1500 ya same @.@
You may be nervous because the IUD is so simple. I'm an engineer by profession so trust me; the simplest solutions are always the best solutions.
Just make sure you do your homework on them first I forget what brand it was but not too long ago there was a problem with some of them my ex girlfriend said that I moved hers sorry I was in there sideways or something like that we had broke up a month before that instead of the blue she called me up just yelling I couldn't understand anything LOL but you do your homework on it find out all the information you possibly can you're supposed to be pretty good pretty safe
So I have a copper IUD with frame I dont have too many problems with it like my period flow has gotten bigger with it and the cramps stronger but thats it as far as i know all that can be even better with a frameless IUD but like for details about that talk to your gyn
I use the ring. Flexible rubber ring that you replace once a month. Not the same as you are talking but I love it.
Don't have to remember the pill.
Thank you for MHG 😊❤️
Do you replace it yourself or does a doctor do it? What brand is it? Any side effects?
@funnygirl1500 I put in or take out myself and replace once a month. You can remove for intercourse or leave in. I remove mine. I did some research, and seeing you are from the United States, your brand would be NuvaRing. I have not had any side effects.

What's Your Opinion? Sign Up Now!IUD's are perhaps the most effective birth control devices. The primary reason is that the are near instantaneous (effective imeadialty) and "passive"- no need to pay attention to them.
Many years ago I was in a relationship with a young woman who just couldn't take the damned pill as required, so we moved to IUD. The only downside of the IUD (for her) was heavy mensuration for the first few months. You made a good choice.
Good job for being proactive on birth control. IUDs are very effective. Hopefully you will not have any issues. My wife got one about 18 months ago and only had some discomfort (not pain) for a few days). Enjoy the sex when that (of if ) the time comes.
Yes, I have a Mirena.
All my friends have them and they rave about them.
No not quite
IUD's are not bad in terns of side effects but just a little scary to handle as a wrong move and it may tear your uretus apart... so be cautious when doing sex and do not use any other pills when using them.
I know nothing about this, I'm a guy and I'm not that smart to begin with and also I'm the ugliest guy out there so I'm not normally around females so I never really learn about feminine problems or products.
