Actually no, I think too many sex scenes in movies & tv series are gratuitous and unnecessarily explicit, mostly because the directors concerned are either trying to get noticed or they actually get themselves off filming them !
I think explicit sex scenes should be kept out of mainstream movies/tv, they should not be crossover porn flicks, which are readily available to the supposedly salivating audiences who are often not all that comfortable sitting through unnecessarily long and very detailed sexual acts
The glitterati/cognoscenti laud Ang Lee for his movies but his sex scenes in his movie "Lust Caution" showed way too much nudity/explicit sex, and were gratuitously long - just a dirty old man/director who clearly didn't want or know how to be artistically subtle in the way he visualized the sexual elements in the story
Remember Meg Ryan? An A-list star at the top of the movie world ! She starred in a forgettable movie "In The Cut" (IMDB. com 'sex & nudity rating: severe') and was in some excruciating to watch overly explicit sex scenes - she's pretty much not been heard of since !!
I'm sure I'm in a minority, but sex & nudity in mainstream movies is not appealing to me, 99.99% of the time it's totally unnecessary and pornography in disguise !
