Prostitution is illegal in most of the US (there are some rural counties in the state of Nevada where it is legal in licensed brothels - NOT the counties where Las Vegas, Reno, or Tahoe are located, though), so while it definitely exists, it's almost non-existent among the middle class.
You have a small percentage of the top wealthy men who can afford very expensive, high-class prostitutes ($1000+ an hour), and do, and then you have the prostitution in the lower class. Streetwalkers fall in this category, but there are plenty of girls in any lower-class neighborhood who will find guys with money and sell sex on their own. The lower class is a lot less interested in following societal rules to begin with, so of course, they tend to have no problem with prostitution. I'd guess that participation there is closer to 30-40%.
A *few* men in the middle class may find the few more middle-class women who see a few customers a week at home, but in large part, outright prostitution isn't common among the middle class - it's too easy for them to get caught, they can't afford the cost of lawyers to fight their case or to bribe the right people, and they have too much to lose.
It's different in Europe, as a number of European countries have legalized prostitution, so there is more middle class participation, but it's still a fairly small percentage, probably no more than 10-15% of men who have ever even done it once.
The majority of men do not. I think nobody knows accurate numbers. There are studies that show low double digit percentages, but I have doubts about those studies.
Personally I've known extremely few men who admitted to hiring prostitutes. I've only known a couple of people in my entire life who admitted to doing it regularly. I have no idea how many have done it but never said anything about it.
If if was a common thing i think they would be more free to admit that, like in my country.
There is a stigma about it. So a lot of people won't admit to it. In other words, it's not really accepted by most people and society as a whole. Even people who say it's OK still see it as an inferior way of getting sex. A lot of people will think it's for losers, or perverts, or whatever. It's definitely not seen as a positive or widely accepted behavior.

I think mostly Europe is no sex before marriage more than the US. Also there is probably more sexualized things in America like strip clubs, sex shops, and sexual establishment's. Also there are legal whore houses in parts of the US. Woman or more open to have sex also with men more regularly than probably Europe. It kinda hard say with how many people there are in Europe and the State's.
