I have 2 brothers who i believe thought that way and acted as such around the house growing up.

My parents werent stricted and were ok with it thus didn't enforce such dress codes and taught us to be happy with our bodies.

And now having kids of my own i raise them how i was raised and my sons act as my brothers do.

Is this just a male thing in general?

No. Generally males have more dignity and shame than females.

Girls, especially now, wear almost nothing all the time, even in public.
Loose shorts with no panties, tights with no panties, rompers with no panties, jean shorts that are practically thongs, tiny dresses and skirts and no panties, no bras, etc

There was times where I wanted to get caught by friends or roommates but not family. I think I never got caught. Till now maybe I just think the neighbor saw me in short shorts and with the buldge overline her eyes went straight down lol
