guy sexually assaulted a minor in his 20's probably while drunk. now he's seeing a girl and he was hell bent on making sure she was over 18. Do those initial feelings of liking minors go away?

So much is missing in your statement. What kind of assault was it - was it sexual? Was it rape or assault? What was the age of the girl? If the age of consent in the place where it happened was, let's say 18, and the girl was 17 and a half, that doesn't make him a pedophile, not by a long shot. Please learn what the terms you are using actually mean. It will help you in the future.

A pedophile is someone who has a sexual preference for children, boys or girls or both, usually of prepubescent or early pubertal age". That's not 15. Not only that, according to Dr. Kirsten Thompson, a clinical psychiatrist at UCLA, " someone who is a pedophile is not always a child molester, but pedophilia itself is formally diagnosed as a psychiatric disorder. A pedophile may not sexually abuse children themselves but may view child pornography which is also a severe criminal offence". So this guy has any number of issues going on, and he committed criminal acts, but they don't conform to those of a pedophile. As I pointed out before, being attracted to "minors" doesn't make you a pedophile, especially if 18 is legal age and he's 19 and she's 17. That's simply not pedophilia. Nothing you said implies he's attracted to prepubescent kids. Will he grow out of his drunken, criminal sexual behavior and attraction to minors - who knows?

This needs more detail. How old was the minor? Was she a willing 17 year old who looked older but lived in one of the 13 states that has an age of consent of 18? Was she 12? There is a huge difference.

Some men, though yes it's easy to generalize as their behaviour is enough to make girls feel violated and cause deep hurt which can make you wonder if they're all like that.

All guys like minors. A gazillion of them of all ages hit on me when they thought no one was looking since I was 12. My friends went through this also, so it must be happening all over.
