It is just because.

There is a very old saying about hookers: what the guy is actually paying for is for the girl to leave.

You don't have to feed her, pour drinks into her, plead for a specific sex act (enough $$$ covers anything and everything a guy can dream of), listen to all of the problems she has with her kids and/or her ex-husband/boyfriend, or drive her home.

The guys listen to none of it! Bang her, set the money on the table (that is how it is done), and then show her the door.

Depends on the guy, could be either. "Just cause"... there's a saying, and true for some guys, they don't really pay for the sex, but for her to leave afterwards lol. Meaning some guys will do it as it's an understood "transaction" and quick and easy (time being the major thing also). No games, feelings involved, dates, etc. Get what he wants and it's done.
