  • There was this bar I used to go to frequently in my 20's. I used to get the bucket of steamed oysters, then go home and chase my girlfriend all over the house.

  • Myth. If they affect libido at all, it's so minor that it doesn't matter.

  • Pretty much everything that looks like genitalia is supposed to be an aphrodisiac

  • Filled with Zinc so its hardly a mystery of course they are an aphrodisiac.

  • I don't recall getting horny because of eating oysters.

  • It's just like all other overpriced and over hyped foods always connected with aphrodisiac myth.

  • Seafood in general and shellfish in particular are known to contain high amounts of vitamin E' and other nutrients, do the 'myth' argument doesn't really work.

  • Not at all. I find it to be a light snack. All it requires is some lemon and hot sauce. Fried onions if I’m feeling extra boujiee.

  • I think it's a myth, it's typically the booze one drinks to wash them down that is the aphrodisiac.

  • Food is a powerful thing.

  • it sure is a myth...

other than that, and personally... they gross me out

  • They’re an aphrodisiac in that if you know someone who will swallow oysters, they’ll probably swallow anything. WINK WINK! NUDGE NUDGE!
Am i right? You know i’m right!

    • I think you might have something there...

  • It's most likely a myth, originally created by oyster fishermen, to sell more of their oysters at a higher price.

    • Big Oyster swindling the public with their lies

    • It's like selling KALE as a health food instead of the garnish it really is lol

  • There’s is no scientific basis for aphrodisiacs outside of placebos

  • I think eating a raw oyster is a weird, gross thing to do. And if you're willing to do THAT weird, gross thing, you're probably willing to do OTHER weird, gross things as well.

A girl who's willing to swallow three or four raw oysters probably won't mind swallowing a little sperm.

  • I don’t like seafood so I wouldn’t know

    • Wow! Nothing?

  • I don't know as I've never had oysters and there's limited research done to test on whether they're an effective aphrodisiac or not. However, it's known that they do have a high level of zinc, which is important for testosterone production and may have a positive impact on libido.

I'm sure if a lot of people feel the effects of it, there must be some truth to it.

  • Gotta be a myth... I'm not sure how slurping down a cold, mucusy (but admittedly delicious) mollusk would get anyone in the mood for anything.

  • a myth

  • Supposedly, never tried one so far

  • This little urban legend has a GREAT back story!! Google it!!
