I don't blame such scams. Legal or not they are based on the same concept of making money from literal losers. Not just OnlyFans but also gambling like lotteries and casinos. The trick is they were engineered with human psychology in mind to keep them hooked in the first place. In other words it is exploiting human ignorance or stupidity or sometimes also desperation.
Social media (Facebook, instagram and others) follow the same concept but in a different manner. Instead of users spending their money on those platforms their time and personal data is collected and to some degree also psychological experimentation - all of which are voluntarily and mostly unknowingly performed by the users themselves.
I am on the simple belief, that most others have as well. There's free pornhub and there are prostitutes.
It reminds me of what I read about how Times Square in NYC used to be - there was a business where you would pay to supposedly see a girl naked and in the first room there would be a partially dressed girl and you would be encouraged to pay more to go to the next room where there would be a girl with less clothes, and so on. Finally you would pay to get to the last room, having not yet seen a fully naked girl, and there would be a big guy with a baseball bat to make sure you went out the last door, the exit back outside.
