Do you feel pity for girls/women who live a materialistic lifestyle?

Question

I used to be a slut for labels which is very bad for me. I’m glad I changed by not buying luxuries at all. Some girls/women become a social escort or prostitute so that they can buy any luxuries they want. Some also work as prostitutes because they need money to settle their parent’s debts or support themselves. For me I’m already happy with what I have I don’t need anymore luxuries to make myself happy.

I am turned off by materialism and especially conspicuous consumerism.

There are people who don't buy items because they are higher quality, but because they want others to think they are "cool." Some of these people can often hardly afford such items and this money could be better spent on other items. Those people who CAN afford such items are flaunting their elite status. Both types of people are shallow.

This is opposed to other people who might buy more expensive things because they are of better quality. (Who would rarely buy popular brands because their prices are inflated simply because they are popular.)

I feel like some girls, I do. I wish that they can just feel free to express themselves in terms of fashion that does not rely on much money and or just girls enjoying being active not worrying about what will happen to their clothes and just enjoying active sports without fear :)

Many women who work as prostitutes do so out of necessity versus on a voluntary basis. Many were born into poor families/areas and so they take up sex work because receiving a full education and the credentials that come along with it was next to impossible.

I feel bad for them per se as it’s definitely a dangerous field to work in. I don’t pity them, though. Or view them as being inferior to anyone else.

Yea i feel bad for anyone who does that, man or woman. It's like enslaving yourself to worthless crap. Stuff is just stuff.

No more than the men, but yes. I live a very low-cost lifestyle, which lets me get by working only part-time. Not having much isn't so bad when you don't need much. And having time to read and write and learn is wonderful.

Pity if they are ruining their lives for it. Envy if they have more than enough money for it (I need money...). Disgust if they have the money and flaunt it around.
