It shows that the South Korean culture is in a different place than American culture- in fact it’s an understatement. I can see why some see them as cute and sexy, but they’re little girls. And we are shown that they are little girls by how they are dressed. So the theme of this video is - girls kissing each other? One kisses the other on the cheek, and everyone goes bananas. The subtle hint of lesbianism oozes throughout this video.

Pop music is about marketing more than music. These stunts have obviously got them a lot of attention, including a niche position in the LGBTQ+ community, as you pointed out. There is a record company executive patting himself on the back for engineering this lucrative situation.
I doubt that the company is the one encouraging this, their company has punished a member before for being caught hanging out with another girl and it looking too much like a date.
Record companies control the band's public image. I'm sure it helps these gay icons to be seen to be rebellious. What was the punishment? If they didn't just quietly remove them from the group, they are happy for the controversy to boost attention and sales.

I mean does it seem like some members might be LGBT, I doubt its done for publicity since China is so conservative. They've gotten their music videos banned for having lesbian themes and one member was punished for going out on a date (which wasn't even confirmed to be an actual date) with another girl.

Maybe in China. I mean french people always greet each other with a kiss on the cheeks. Just leave them be. Remember that band TaTu, they were two girls from russia and most of their fame came from people wondering wether or not they were lesbians. But wether its normal or just publicity or actual love, leave them be, nothing concerning about it.
Of course it isn't concerning, but China is such a conservative place, I asked some of my family from China about it and they said it wasn't normal for them.
