Sounds distasteful, but I think it’s a natural ‘go’ signal for a guy to step in if a woman seems, sad, lost, lonely, drunk... more so than when’s she’s happy , confident, social and sober.

I think it's natural for a man to be attracted to a vulnerable woman, but their intentions vary. Some men are attracted because their protective instincts take over, others because their predatory instincts do.
Yes, an innocent girl both inspire protective feelings in heroic men, and is much more vulnerable villainous men who are seeking to take advantage of her.

It really depends on the guy in question. I prefer outgoing, confident women myself.
I tend to step in for almost anybody when they seem that way. But I am more likely to step in for a woman. I wouldn't say it is attractive, but I guess it is an easy beginning that lets me ask questions about them
Not attractive, but you want to help them. The other day this 21 year old girl rear ended me but it didn't even damage my car and her car just got a little damaged. She was crying pretty bad and I just gave her a hug and told her it's ok and nothing serious would happen. It made me feel good but I wasn't "attracted" to her.
