Unless there is a legitimate medical reason for it (rare) then I believe it's genital mutilation. I think it's barbaric and unethical to amputate part of the penis of newborns who obviously cannot give consent. If a male is of age and can give consent that is his business. But even in that instance unless there is a genuine medical indication for the procedure I think the medical profession should consider it unethical to perform it. I was cut at birth and I wish my penis were intact.

No, I do not support the practice. It serves no practical purpose. It mutilates & traumatizes the infant unnecessarily. It also exposes the now uncovered head of the penis to constant stimulation which can irritate & desensitize it.

My husband wasn't. My son isn't. In my culture it's not done. But I believe if required medically then it is done in boys or adults by a surgeon in a proper medical facility. However again in some communities within my country, it is done to their boys when they are young. That is a religious requirement for them. But I still feel gross after reading various posts on social media about circumcision of newborn American boys by a doctor and as the mothers had mentioned their baby was in pain for many days. I would never do that to my child.
