  • I think humility and honesty and modesty and respect make you a woman, not the size of your breasts, your belly, or your bank account.

  • No of course not. That's like saying a mother who had to have a c-section for her baby isn't a "real mother," or a wife who can't have sex isn't a "real wife." A woman isn't defined by her bodily functions. Not in any capacity of her identity. That's just stupid and harmful.

  • well since we're only 13 when it happens we're not really a woman before that anyway

  • No. Many women don't experience menstruation. Doesn't make them any less of a woman.

    • That’s wrong. The majority of women do experience menstruation

    • It's not wrong... Many do not experience it. Infact 3-5% of women never do. That's over 119 to 198 MILLION women you are saying are not "real women"

    • 119 million isn’t many considering the world population is about 4.5 billion female

  • To be considered a cis women yes I would say this is one of the aspects they would tend to have if speaking about norm

  • That's gatekeeping.

Also, some women don't have menses, such as having hysterectomies, and can no longer have menses.

Why the fascination with being a "real woman" anyway? You insecure about your femininity?

  • The traditional definition of a woman, as opposed to a girl, is a female who has gone through puberty, which involves menstruation. I see no reason to change that definition.

    • Malnutrition and underweight can prevent menstruation from starting and can also stop it later. This is known for ballerinas, for women with eating disorders and of course women suffering from hunger. Those are large numbers. A small fraction does not menstruate for different medical reasons, either.

  • Not every XX female menstruates.

  • Yes.

  • Nope.

  • I'd say no, you should be able to have just any control in that manner.

  • I believe a person has to be born as a woman to be a real woman.
    Other than it's all ridiculous.

  • Blah blah blah gender roles libral theory BS blah blah blah... Yes a woman is someone with female reproductive organs that can produce a baby.

  • If they have ovaries and a uterus I would still consider them a woman even if they don’t menstruate due to medical reasons

  • Not necessarily.
