Not sure why someone would purposely wait till 40. I can understand if they have a religious ideal to wait till marriage but would be weird to reach 40 then break that without achieving marriage.
I was a 35yr virgin. I had a mental block on intimacy. It took me hitting rock bottom and going to therapy to change my life. It wasn't a conscious effort to wait

my neighbor she is 53 so yes. a lot of us are waiting not for marriage but the right person who fits our lives and these days its harder then you think.
