Do you think it’s strange I still find it embarrassing buying tampons from stores when I’m in my 20s now and have been menstruating for over 10 years?

I have been buying ever since I was like 12 and I am 24 now and still find it embarrassing.

  • It is not strange that you still find it embarrassing to buy tampons from stores at 24, as the feeling can stem from a variety of reasons. Society has traditionally viewed menstruation and periods as a taboo topic, which can contribute to feelings of shame or awkwardness. Additionally, some people may feel self-conscious or uncomfortable discussing personal matters with strangers, such as employees at a store, which can add to this feeling. It's normal to feel embarrassed when buying tampons, but try to remember that it's a natural part of your body that is nothing to be ashamed of.

  • I don't find anything strange about it, but there is a way to get past that.

Make yourself behave in a way that lets the world know that you have nothing to hide.

When I made that change in myself, it BECAME me very quickly.

I would think that the same change would quickly apply to you.

For example, last night I was at Walgreens buying some cosmetics for myself, mascara, eye shadow, eyeliner, and lip gloss, among a few other items. The cashier asked me if I was doing a Door Dash. I couldn't quite hear her, so I asked her to repeat herself. She asked again. I told her no, and calmly asked if it made some sort of difference regarding my purchases. SHE looked slightly embarrassed at my questioning her. She said no, it made no difference.

I knew exactly what she was alluding to, but gently turned it back around on her.

I guess I'm saying that if you own your own reality, no one else can do anything about it.

    Good luck to you. 😊👍

  • Not really. I'm 33 and I still get embarrassed or nervous about holding hands with a girl in public. You can't really help those feelings. I think as long as it's not turning into worse emotions or keeping you from living your life, it's not a problem.
