Oh, yes. I incorrectly read the question. In that case, if he isn't a complete stranger, it would be appropriate to ask such question withinn the context of discussion. You don't ask a person you know such a random question out of nowhere. Must be context first, for example you both discussing men and women sex, relationships, etc, and then such question can be asked. To make it even more easy to ask if you both can have a bottle of beer for example.
