I don't know, but it should end. I find it very damaging to the value of sex and love when offering your body, which ultimately affects society, their morality as a whole, family formations, the stability of those families, birth rates and such.
Some studies have shown that the more a society controls their sexual energy, i. e. not fucking like chimpanzees all day with the first stranger you meet, the most progress and expansion that society gets. Chastity leads a lot of energy to many things that are more beneficial on the long run individually and socially. People actually search for a proper partner for a long time, bonds are stronger when you give sexual energy a treatment based on love with a serious partner. Families then have children and they strengthen society, because families are the first natural and biological community that exists, more families = more solid society because even in those small and primary communities there's already mutual work and care.
There are countless benefits of ending the hook-up culture, which is basically short term pleasure with no actual future benefits, but rather bad things. You should search for those studies that talk about how more chastity and less sexual "freedom" increases the benefits for society.

Anyway, the hook-up culture will end, because the process is circular, which means that an overly sexual society without chastity will eventually collapse by itself or be conquered by other culture that's not as degenerated. It has happened through history, it's the price for not thinking on the long run.

First of all, thanks for asking a unique question that's not asked 40 times per day.

I think that after this Covid shit is gone, people might be more inclined to find a steady partner, just so they don't have to go through this being alone the next time it happens. I haven't sex in a year. Where can you go? How can you meet someone while under lock-down? It sure would have been nice to have had a partner to be with and get "busy" with during this time. Shit, we might even have thrown caution to the wind and taken our masks off. LOL
