A lot of guys say that kids need to take more responsibility for they're actions, therefore if caught having sex with adults they should face some type of charge. I'm thinking that since so many people agree with kids getting charges for sex with adults ( teacher/student, incest, then I want to see how many people think that the age of consent ( 16) is too high.

It was 14 where I live when I grew up. It hit increased to 16 around a decade ago or so.

I’m not sure I have a strong view on 14 vs. 16. This doesn’t mean I think the average 14 year old should start sleeping with the adults. But there’s a difference between “often a bad idea” and “should be illegal”.

I think by 14 most teens can decide for themselves if they want to have sex or not. The problem I think is that in real life there can be pressure and so on - real ones. People who are dating may break up over sex for instance. So while it’s one thing to say 14-15 year olds can decide if they want to have sex (which I’m confident in saying is true enough it’s reasonable legally). And another to say “14 or 14 year olds are ready to negotiate sexual boundaries”. That said I really am not impressed with just pushing to increase age while we simultaneously don’t talk to kids at all about how to handle sexual relationships. At best we tell them they need consent and can say no. That’s not actually enough.

ethically people need to realize that whatever the age of consent, there will be individuals and scenarios where the individual would have been fine beforehand, and there will be other individuals who have sex they regret beyond that point. Age of consent laws are a very blunt tool to manage irresponsibility, as opposed to protecting children from exploitation.

16 as the age of concent is already a little low... 18 would be better and draw a line... if kids have sex, then it isn't great but it means there is no confusion when a 16 year old who is still in school (definitely sixthform if not secondary school) sleeps with a teacher... 18 people either work or go to university here so that's the line really...

So I just took a look at the Wiki list of countries by age of consent:
Sweden is one of many countries that has an age of consent of 15 and some have it even lower.
Unless older partner is in a position of power or exploiting the inexperience of the younger person the age of consent is 13 in Japan and 14 in Germany, Italy, Austria, Bulgaria, Serbia and a bunch of others and it's 15 in France, Poland, Denmark etc.
With a limit on age gap the age of consent is as low as 12 in 8 countries including Canada and 13 or 14 in Italy, South Korea, Israel and a few others.
The examples I mentioned aren't some small backwards 3rd world pagan dictatorships where everyone suffers and rape is normal or whatever, we clearly have a lot of evidence that the age of consent doesn't have to be lower then 16.
