I can assure you that this happens a lot. But unfortunately very rarely with famous actresses/directors. They simply risk too much. But in many businesses, where a lot of (good looking) women who don't necessarily need a diploma or whatever and the job isn't too important/official, it happens way more than you might expect.
Think about smaller roles in less important movies/shows. I have a lot of friends in that scene. One male friend mainly directs videoclips. Especially the dancers that apply to be in those clips. He told me once which ones would get the job, and then a bunch of girls he saw were just sluts who would do anything, just for a chance at the job. There are in fact so many girls that he lets some of his friends do the interviews, just so they can fuck or get sucked off, cause he can't keep up.
I don't think a majority do, but I wouldn't doubt that it still happens.
Why do you only focus on actresses and not actors?

It happens overtly, but it happens even more subtly. They're often teens, they arrive (and this is males and females) they're taken to parties with a bunch of 30-40 year olds, given drugs/alcohol, etc. They don't fuck around, they get ignored, they don't get roles.
There have been a lot of allegations floating around that many of the nickelodeon child stars were abused.

I don't think MOST of them do, but I do think it does still happen, yeah. My very gritty side cannot help but get horny when I hear those kinds of stories though. Even the old cases of stars like Marilyn Monroe giving head to get ahead in the industry made me horny.

Newbies get smaller, supporting roles the vast majority of the time, and hope to get noticed - or at least, pay the rent this month - and those are the roles where this kind of thing is likely to take place today.
In times past, it was definitely different.

Well I can't say most of them but the people that think Hollywood is progressive is highly mistaken. Its one of the biggest collection of conservative and morally bankrupt people in the world. Granted the actors are not really involved in all of this backwards thinking but there is without a shadow of a doubt a lot of backstage dealings going on with sexual favors etc..
I don't you have to be that bad... but I do think you have to be willing to show some skin to advance you're career until it is established.
