Oh, I hope not. The idiotic decisions that so many governors have made to base reopenings on case numbers, rather than fatalities, or at least hospitalizations, has caused economic and psychological damage that we'll be generations paying off- and are going to kill orders of magnitude more people than the virus will. At some point, "flatten the curve" became "no cases at all", and it terrifies me that no one else seems to have noticed. I don't blame people for making poor decisions based on incomplete information, but the numbers have shown that we never should've locked down at all; doing so again would be courting a Greater Depression.

Hopefully the people calling the shots learned their lessen and won't do it again. Lock down is not something to be taken so lightly like they did before. It's such an extreme measure that there is not even a word to describe how extreme it is. It should never have been done before, and it should never be done again.
Besides, the "US" was never on lock down. That stuff was all done at the sate and local level, which is how it should be done. A singular policy that treats someplace like NYC the same as remote areas of Alaska or Wyoming isn't how the virus or anything else should be handled.1 0 0 0

1 0 0 0The US was never on lock down. Every state made their own decisions…
1 0 0 0Ok... my bad lol with my state being on lockdown and the media it made it seem like every state was on lockdown.
In Florida we addressed the pandemic county by county. So the large metropolitan areas had more strict regulation while the suburbs and rural areas had next to no regulation. Where I live the beach parking at local and state parks were closed for about a month but the beaches were open. Restaurants and some stores were closed for several weeks, but many business ignored the regulation and were not penalized. Most professional workers worked from home and most trade workers just kept working. Schools instantly went online with Florida Virtual School which has been set up since 1997. Kid had the option to go back to the classroom at the start of this school year, but still have the option to use Florida Virtual School so there is very small attendance from what I can see. The main thing that kept getting opened and then closed like a month later were bars/night clubs/microbreweries. Overall though we’ve had very little restrictions and are completely open state wide at the moment… Per capita we are number 15 in deaths which isn’t horrible being that we are the third most populated state with many large cities that have high population density.
A vaccine will be available shortly.
Another lockdown will be far more harmful to America than losses if life from the virus.0 0 0 0We should have gone on lock down again a long time ago, especially here in Texas where covid counts was over 20%. With numbers going down due to no one actually going out besides work it provided false sense of security which back fired when kids started going back to school. It is pretty clear that if we ever opened up completely every one will get covid, including those who got covid already.
With covid mutating relatively often you never know how much worse or deadlier each new strain is. What is clear though is that we opened up to early and as such we have created a long term problem that could have been a short term experience1 0 0 0eventually everyone will.

I'm holding him to that promise.0 0 0 0No. It doesn't matter how bad it gets, I don't believe we'll go into lockdown. It's too expensive and the public doesn't cooperate, anyway, so there's no point. They'll just let people die until there aren't enough people left to spread it. Because that's what the public demands.
