Does believing homosexuality is a choice make you a suppressed non-heterosexual?

Many men say that homosexuality is a choice. But when you say that u believe homosexuality is a choice, that probably means you’re on the bisexual scale. You’re simply consciously making the decision not to be with the same sex because you think it’s wrong, even though you could be with them otherwise. Such men are basically telling people that are attracted to the same sex that they should just choose to be with the opposite sex (which is probably what they themselves must be doing). They’re really giving themselves away if u ask me..

  • well homosexuality is a choice. just like breathing is. or heartbeat. just not a choice you can really consciously influence. it's a choice that is made in your brain. but it is not a choice that can really be influenced by the "ego", which is the fully consciously aware part of your ego, which we all refer to, when we say "i". at least that's how i understand it. there's decisions that happen in the brain, that the ego can influence. like you can consciously move your arm. you can consciously breathe orblink. however some things are not controllable from the ego part of your psyche.

    • That’s not what they mean when they say it’s a choice, so I don’t know why you’re making this more complicated than it needs to be. What you’re attracted to is not a choice. Whether you act on it or not is a choice.

    • well that's true. being pedophile is also not a choice. or being necrophile or zoophile. yet people treat pedophiles exactly the same as people that rape children. so for some sexualities, "acting on it" or not doesn't matter. it's interesting that we draw a completely arbitrary line in the sand as society. 50 years ago, being gay was considered morbid. now being gay is fine. even "not accepting your own biological sex" is not considered a "disease" anymore... i'm just sitting here wondering what's next.

    • i'm not making any moral value judgements by the way. just observations.

  • Gay man here,

    It's not a choice.

You can make the conscious decision to go out and bang whoever physically but you'll most likely feel horrible or won't even be able to perform if it's with the gender you aren't attracted to.

When it comes to emotion and desire, that's not a choice.

You can't control and create strong desires or make your heart race.

Those physical reactions you have during attraction, you can't control.

I'm tired of people thinking attraction is a choice.

I wish I could be attracted to women but I can't!

I never have had any sort of romantic attraction to women or desires.

    It's just how it is.

I don't think bisexual people choose either. I think they just have the chemistry to be attracted to both which is cool.

    I wish I was bisexual 😅

  • All I can say is that being heterosexual is not a choice you either are or you are not... and once you cross that line you are no longer... but your most likely Bi-sexual at that point on even if you only did it once and you decide your not into being gay... your still Bi.

So the same must be true for gays, if they choose to do both men and women then they are probably not repressed hetero but BI sexual.

  • I believe its just their brain is wired differently. So not a choice just born wired differently.

  • Precisely.
A strictly heterosexual (or homosexual) person can clearly tell that their attraction is not a choice.
The attraction towards their non-preferred sex is simply absent, there is no internal "choice" that needs to be made at any point.

If you are calling it a choice, you admit there are options to be considered.
That's not how straightness works lol.

    • Yup. Many, many men are in the closet.

  • trollllllll XD XD XD XD

  • Given the prevailing theory being it's biological, rather than a conscious decision I'd have to disagree, as it's not a choice in that situation.

  • I have never believed its a choice

  • Not really, you're making wrong assumptions. The choices you make are influenced by other factors. In my mind I cannot be homosexual because a pee pee on a twink does nothing to me, therefore I choose not to pursue men.
There were men in history who were allegedly homosexuals who chose to be viewed as straight because of the contemporary beliefs. Simply believing that everyone is gay but they choose to be otherwise is redundant, especially how sexually free humanity is in today's day and age.

    • Well, yea, whether u act on it or not is a choice obviously.

  • More the bullshit concept that everyone is gay. They're just not. Still a very tiny percentage of normal adults. It's just become popular as of late. You're hip and cool if you're gay. [rolls eyes]

  • Sexual preferences are genetic, just like all other preferences.

  • There is not a "gay" gene.

  • I understand what you're saying, but I think the problem is that their argument usually is that homosexuality is a choice but heterosexuality is "natural" and therefore not a choice. Complete nonsense of course, but I think that's what they believe.

    • Wow, that’s even more stupid. It makes absolutely no sense, I agree.

  • If you wanna know homosexuality is a choice look at the prison system or pirate ships. Men without access to women for long enough go gay

    • They likely weren’t straight to begin with.

    • And, yes, acting on one’s desires is a choice. Duh.

  • I can't say I know a lot of gay people but I know of 3 guys that were in my class
all growing up that looking back were effeminate as little kids. As adults
they were out as gay. I mean they acted that way in first grade.
I think it's a combination. Some are from the start and some decide they
    are later.

  • No..

    • Yes, actually. If u think otherwise, u’r living in denial and are bisexual or just gay.

  • well... that's a silly opinion... is it possible that they are just stupid?

  • Don't you mean bisexual?

  • It is a choice for those that are attracted to the same sex. If your not attracted to the same sex then yes it isn't a choice.

    • That makes absolutely no sense. Whether u act on it is a choice, obviously. But why would u choose not to be with the same sex if that’s what you’re attracted to? Should they live a fake life and be with someone of the opposite sex?

    • If they are attracted to the same sex then they have something mentality wrong and need to seek out therapy. Its moraly wrong to have relations with the same sex as you would the opposite sex.

    • That’s stupid. Therapy doesn’t help with that. You’re basically telling them to live a fake life.

  • Not at all. Homosexuality is Caused by the environment a person grows up in. Everyone has a choice as to how they live their lives. Living a homosexual lifestyle is a choice people makes. No one is forced to live as a homosexual.

    • Why would a person choose to live a homosexual lifestyle if they weren’t attracted to men? You must be bisexual.

    • Not at all. I am simply better educated than you are.

  • Choice or not I don't pretend. I'm a faggot and I admit it.

  • well its the same for pedos, we all have the potential to find sick things hot, its jus a lot of us choose not to cos we know its sick and wrong, its jus that homosexuals dont have that moral compass, they dont care, they just ignore the fact that homosexuality is wrong and do it anyway, thats why i dont like faggs

    • sick immoral fucks

    • So, u’r not straight.
