Nothing wrong with charity to people you care about. If he makes a choice on his own to buy you a gift that’s on him. So long as you aren’t asking for anything then no biggie… There are those situations where girls fuck dudes, because they know he will take them shopping and buy shit she wants. I’d say that is prostitution. So the devil is in the details. It’s all about intent. If you are manipulating someone so that you can use them for financial or material gain, then you are a prostitute. If a guy or a girl chooses to give a gift to their special someone randomly and thoughtfully, then it’s not prostitution.

Sex for any material benefit would qualify as prostitution so yea it does count if you wanna get hung up on technical definition, but the other side of that argument is that you’re getting a dinner and gifts usually before you let a guy inside of you when you’re actually dating anyway so if a gift is prostitution then all women are engaged in it at some level..

Here's the difference: would you have had sex with the guy without getting any gift, or did you have sex with the guy in order to get the gift?

Did you give him sex on the condition that he purchase a certain item for you, or is it something that he is doing on his own afterwards?

If you tell a guy that you will have sex only if he buys you a dozen red roses afterwards, then that is prostitution. If you have sex and the guys surprises you with roses the next day, that s simply his way of expressing appreciation; he did not "buy" sex with the roses.

The question is not whether money was exchanged. Giving you gifts for sex, or paying your electric bill in exchange for sex is still prostitution. The question is whether having sex was promised in exchange for his promise to give you a gift. If you say I'll have sex with you if you give me a candy bar afterwards, then you are a prostitute. If you have sex - with no promises - and he later gives you a candy bar, then it is not prostitution.
