I have jacked-off within an hour of my work associate coming by to jack-me-off, and all it did was keep me from getting a really good hard on, when I took my pants off. I always thought it would help in preventing my shooting too quick, but not sure if that is a good way to prevent it.

If I blow my load an hour or two before sex, I will most likely last a really long time. So long that some women give up and just let me finish all by myself after they orgasm. The amount of cum is usually a lot smaller and there usually isn't as much precum lube. Also if I relieve pent up horniness I might not be that in the mood an hour afterwards, not that I would reject an invitation for sex but I may not start one.
