Our Boys arrived Friday October 19th, 2018 at 8:20 A.M. one day before our due date. I went into labor on Thursday, the babies dropped on Wednesday night so we knew that things were going to happen soon. After being in labor all night and a routine ultrasound revealed baby no. 1 was in a bum first presentation it was decided that a C-section was our best option for delivering two healthy baby boys. The Doctor did everything she could to coax him to turn his little bum around and dive into the world head first but he just wouldn't take the hint. My Doctor told me that if it were her she would choose to do the Cesarean section; especially making sure we were not waiting until it became an emergency and having no choice. So that put me more at ease, even so I wasn't thrilled about having the C-section.
I was very lucky that this was not an emergency C-section where an up-down cut is made from the pubic bone upward about 8-9 inches. The cut that my Doctor made is a standard cross-cut just above the pubic bone about 6 inches wide.
Baby Boy no. 1 not the bum first no.1 but his little brother who was waiting patiently in line weighed in at 6 pounds 11 ounces. Baby Boy no. 2 who thought he was going to be no. 1 weighed 6 pounds 14 ounces. Their Pediatrician is pleased with their weight and development, no breathing issues, no stress issues. Just two perfect little boys whose Mommy was happy to see them, they are handsome little devils look just like their Daddy! They both have Mommy's blonde hair for now, we'll se how long that lasts. I was blonde from day one too so they might be blonde too, Daddy's hair is darker so they might get that too.
I was given and epidural block just before the cut was made, I felt no pain, just a bunch of squishy pressure. We were slated to go natural vaginal delivery, someone couldn't decide which way he wanted to come out to greet the world kind of ruined those plans.
Both boys names start with a K_______ middle name with A________ and S________ middle names are Grandpa's middle names, my Dad's middle name goes back 4 generations to the first born boy, (including my older brother), his Dad's is just a one off, they didn't carry it over to my husband, since we were doing my Dad's middle we did his Dad's too.
All three of us were discharged this morning, I'm sore and not just from the C-section. A couple of little boys were kicking my insides from Wednesday night almost to the time they were drug out kicking and screaming! They both have a set of lungs, loud! Lucky both Grandmas are staying with us. (Like we could keep them away!) So for right now I'm supposed to be bed resting, Grandmas are happy with that arrangement!
I'm not scheduled to return to work for 9 weeks, five weeks maternity and four weeks annual leave. As sore and beat up as I feel, I'm pretty sure that I'm going to be glad with that decision. Not to mention the first month or so is pretty important Mommy and baby bonding time.
To answer the ever popular, ever frequently asked question here on gag, "Do you believe in Love at First Sight?" The answer is definitely YES!! I was swooned the first time I saw my son's handsome little faces and got to hold them, it was so special, makes me get all teary eyed every time I think about them! I even caught Mr. Manly Man, Daddy with a few tears in his eyes, he was pretty concerned with me, but when he held his boys for the first time I could tell, Love at first sight! He's a happy Daddy now that everyone is home and safe for now!
Thanks for all the well wishes sent before hand, I really appreciated them!
*We have decided that we will not share Pictures or Names of our sons on any social media, including gag sorry, please respect our privacy there, Thanks.
What Girls & Guys Said
1 2I'm disappointed I missed wishing you well on what you shared as such a joyous time. I'm sure with 2 babies it has been even twice the sleepless nights.
Enjoyed "Your Take" even though I am late to the party.
I'm so happy for you and your family...
All my love
Thank You!!
