What Girls & Guys Said

  • Im getting one soon...

  • I never have. Said I might, but I'm sooooo sceptical and paranoid. Not like I'm very active either. I keep changing my mind if to get it. I think for now it's a no

  • No, I'm too scared of any birth control other than condoms but my husband loses hardness once putting one on because there's barely any feeling for him with it on. So, he pulls out. I know it's not a good method to practice but we're married so we're not worried. If we get pregnant then we'll have to deal with it and welcome a new baby but we are not choosing to have another at the moment. As for IUD if I ever get one it will be a copper one for sure. I don't want to put artificial hormones into my body so that's why I don't want the other types. I've also heard a lot of horror stories that have turned me off. For the first time I'm actually happy to deal with my period because it makes me feel like I'm healthy and everything is good with me. I think even if I did by chance get one I'd still want him to pull out because I'd be scared no matter how well it works. I've read that the only reason the pill doesn't work as well is from human error because women forget and sometimes there's a gap in between refills or switching types and that's all it takes for a slip up and if it also just happens to be your fertile period. I think the IUD is a good option for many but I don't think I'm ready yet.

  • No. But I thought about using it several times.
One of my sisters uses it and I remember that she used to feel pain. But fortunately I don't need to use it now.

  • No I usually just get the Depo shot.

  • Yes I have the Mirena currently year 4 of 5. No periods. Awesome!!!

    • @Samamtha_17, good for you, hope you have positive experience with it as I do.

    • I hope so. Thank you :)

  • Back in the day, I used what was called the Norplant. It was implanted in the arm. It SUCKED!!! I bled 3 weeks out if the month. I had flu symptoms all the time. I gained 80 pounds in 2 years. I got that shit taken out.

  • Nope, mostly because they look like an anchor and I don't wanna go sticking an anchor in there lol I do have an implant though which needs replaced every few years. One of my EX- friends made fun of me for still having one, well that's why she has 3 kids and I ain't got any 😂

  • I'm currently on the pill. I really don't like having to take it everyday. I'm thinking about getting either nexplanon or an IUD. Not really sure what would be better.

    • I have never been on the pills but I'm now considering switching from condoms to IUD.

    • I think if I had it to do from the beginning again... I'd get an IUD. I think it would be a lot easier. Plus... my stepdad's sister is an OB and she thinks it would be better for me and I've been thinking about it since talking to her the other day.

  • No and working in healthcare I'm opposed to a lot of these devices. Especially the ones they implant. Look up Essure for example. I assisted an attorney with the medical records during the litigation and saw what that did to so many women. We can't just go with what a doctor says because they only know what they are told. It isn't healthy.

  • I haven't myself but a couple of my friends have. They both dealt with them moving. And one of them struggled for three years after having it removed to conceive. But it was convenient for them.

  • I've never needed birth control

  • I've had the copper one and now I have the hormonal one. The hormonal one is better for me

    • What do you mean by "better"?

    • Well the hormonal one has stopped my periods, which is better for me as my periods used to last anywhere between 3 days and 3 months. The copper one made my periods heavier, made them painful, and didn't stop them being overaly long so I was advised to change to the hormonal one which has worked out better for me due to it stopping my periods.

  • It is amazing. I have a mirena IUD and is one of the best decisions I made. No more daily pills or monthly shots. Just some spotting during menses. love it.

  • I haven't no

  • No, sorry I cannot help with any IUD experience.

  • My Mum has and she got pregnant with me on it. She says its risky as sometimes it gets stuck on the guys penis during sex in rare cases.

I think its a toxin really and wouldn't really use it.

  • No way, i would hate to use one

  • Only been on the pill

  • No but I’ve been thinking about alternatives to the pill.

    • We're looking for alternatives to condoms. I will probably have this device inserted soon :)

    • What is it about the pill that you don’t consider it to be an alternative?

    • I don't want to take pills.
