Gonna say something very controversial here but try and answer it in a civil manner? Is rape a natural instinct in men?

I know it's not right and we as humans are different from animals in the sense that we are actually capable of self control unlike animals.

Putting the above statement aside , I am asking if it's natural urge just like how we see in the animal kingdom, male rape females. in some cases even female rapes male or even kills it during sex. Is it something that naturally occurs?

Disclaimer : I am not promoting rape. Not trying to make rapists look human or anything like that. It's a genuine question so answer it objectively. Use science to answer , not emotions and legal terms.

Superb Opinion

  • I think sex is a natural instinct, but rape is not.

Humans are emotional beings and logical. We typically like some kind of connection with our partners, instead of forcing them. That's why we woe each others even without realizing.

A guy may unknowingly flex when touched by a woman. And a girl may put some extra sway in their hips when they walk passed a guy they like.

Rape, is typically done, as a power trip. Men who do, and even women, dont do so, with the intention of pleasing a partner. It's way more selfish. They do so, just because they can and that's what gets them off.

And it can happen, in times of war, like the "spoils of war" where male soilders on the winning side, will rape the women of the losing side. Its a power trip, fueled by adrenaline.

So, I don't think its sonkich as instinct, as much as it is a individualistic action.

Because if it was, most men wouldn't try to get a potional partners attention, they'd just take them.

    • *Woo

    • I also think rape is violence and not sex. I am no psychologist but I sometimes wonder if a guy raped because he can't get laid in the normal fashion. And yes boys do get raped. Been there done that.

Most Helpful Guys

  • The truth is, I think it IS instinctual to rapists, but not all guys are rapists.

I think most guys have the instinct to protect women and to kill guys who prey on women in such a vicious, evil way.

Unfortunately, the legal system, in my opinion, does a WAY better job of punishing guys for murdering rapists than it does punishing the rapists or protecting women from rape.

I think in many ways, sometimes murder is a necessary evil and when you take away men's ability to kill and get away with it, you do more harm than good. I understand all the arguments against vigilante justice, but I think there's always going to be pros and cons with any system of justice, and the modern, more quote-unquote, "civilized" justice system that we have in the West has it's own terrible flaws.

I understand that "sometimes the innocent are killed by mistake" with vigilantism, but sometimes under our current system, a guy can rape and rape and rape and keep getting away with it because you can't prove it in court. One's just as bad as the other, pick your poison.

  • There’s a big issue with the animal kingdom theory. Evolution.

It’s true animals in the wild have an instinct to mate, but humans separated themselves from nature a long time ago. We evolved past the need to act in sexual impulses in a forceful way. On that topic, don’t animals have mating rituals? Male species have to win a female over before they can mate. I’m sure rape exist in the wild but across the board? I’d have to research it.

But no. Human beings are more complicated than wild animals. We’ve developed intelligent ways of communication, laws and social rules. Rape is not normal or instinctual. The desire to have sex is natural.

  • I don't think so, but it is not that simple to tell. Humans are very social beings, we have communities and value positive social interaction. We also have a lot of empathy towards each other. I believe those are natural instincts. To take care that the social relations work well. If you rape and in general are violent to people around you then it is not good for your social life. But it is more often seen that people rape others outside their group, like during war. I think this is, however, more a way of showing power within your group and not so much a sexual desire.

  • No. It's a criminal inclination.

  • Rape is emotional. And no it is not natural. Rape is about ignorance and a need to be a predator.

A natural impulse is to procreate. Procreation doesn't mean rape.

There are a whole world of things to say about it. But the simple truth is that its not a natural impulse.

  • No, there is a difference between rape and temptation. Yes, you can have temptation or desire to have something personal with someone you find desirable. Enough to create a fantasy in your mind. Like seeing beautiful women and men imagining having something romantic with them. For example, I've seen gorgeous women see a male celebrity and say "oh the things I would let him do to me", its only temptations that everyone essentially feels, but nobody has the instinct to force something on someone like sex/rape. Only someone mentally ill would go that far

  • No it's not natural. I've never felt the inclination of raping a woman.

I don't know, when I was maybe 15 years old I showed my penis to a 12 years old girl, one of my sister's friends, but she didn't complain about it. She was sort of like, "oh, so that's how that works."

Probably not the wisest move in the world, but nobody was hurt by it either.

    • A very fortunate she did not run and tell somebody

    • @yofuknutz Wouldn't matter. there's no law against minors reavelaing their private parts to one another. The nations with the lowest rate of rape and murder have not even invented clothing yet. True Story.

    • Are you referring to the north sentinelese they are an interesting case I haven't heard anything about them since this virus started I hope they're okay

  • don't think so. might be in some. Aggression might be which is related. but rape... isn't that a violent act by definition? seems devoid of love... I don't think all men are devoid of love.

  • I don't think so.
Wanting each other is much more appealing. OR, turning on your partner enough to want sex can be even better.

  • No, you are not right - to me rape is not only abhorrent, it's a brutal act and men who do that are mostly men who could never find a woman who would want to have a relationship with themIt's not even fair to animals to call rapists 'animals', they're simply truly contemptuous humans !

  • If it was rape would be a much more frequent thing that most men do 😑

    • That’s what I thought too but also ket’s not forget that there is a law. This question made me think, what if rape was allowed, would it happen more often?

    • To people with no moral compasses sure but thats the same with any crime

    • guys I am not implying men dont have morals and ethics and if rape was allowed all men would rape. I am not saying that please read the question again. there is this another guy above calling me a feminist lol

    • Show All
  • It's not. Empathy is natural. So is tribal punishment for members who misbehave. By natural I mean thagt both have been observed in other primates.

  • Nope. Otherwise it would have been legal, and we would be learning and promoting rapists.

You see, rapists tend to fit a certain criminal profile. I'm not talking got drunk and banged a drunker girl/boy at a party, here. I'm talking the predators who hunt for the vulnerable to take advantage.

These personalities are not really capable of anything positive. They are worse than animals, as animals mate during season and to fulfill a biological purpose. Oxygen thieves like rapists, just do it for the kicks.

    • This... correct.

  • Hard to answer. Sex is a natural drive, but forcible sex is simply not right morally, socially, or legally. I suppose many think about it.

  • Not rape as such, but having sex with a female who generates a great surge of lust in you, "Yes".
Guys, unless a sociopath, do not get up in the morning and say "Ah, let's rape some girl today!".
To summarize, the desire for sex is a natural instinct but rape is an unnatural loss of control that societies from the beginning of time have abhorred and harshly punished, particularly if the female was someone's mate.

  • Most animals don't rape, and how they do it is very different between different species and sometimes individuals, so something that's natural for one species to do won't be for another. No, rape is not a natural instinct in humans, if someone did it that's just because they're a bad and dangerous individual.
It wouldn't make sense for a species that strongly benefits from having at least two partners raising the babies to develop rape instincts.

  • I don’t believe see as men have become more evolved through time. I’ve never wanted to have sex with a woman who hasn’t wanted to have sex with me. When I was in the Marine Corps, prostitution was common place, but I never had a desire to partake. It’s just not good sex if a woman doesn’t actually want it. Rape has never crossed my mind.

  • No I don't think so... I think the extent to which rape happens in nature is more because of scarcity of female animals than anything else.

  • No, not at all. It's one of the most selfish and cruel acts a person can commit.
    It's willful and self serving.

  • that's exactly like saying "is being raped a natural instinct of women". of course not. it's a mans natural instinct to want to have sex with a girl. generally humans instinctively are striving for harmony and peace... and rape is not that at all xD

  • Real men don't rape.

  • Never felt the urge personally, so i would say no. But i can only speak to my personal experiences.

  • I never had the urge to rape a girl which means that it's not an instinct, prefer to date a girl, love her, marry her than have sex as much as i want, at least the girl will be very happy and not hurt, she will be happy to give and receive all the sexual pleasure...
