Have people always trim or shaved pubic hair or is it something new or generation from generation?

my parents never did until now so i imagine it might be something new this generation of young like me.

Some do and some don't, and our knowledge of what those who came before us is only based on what has been passed down. You state that your parents never did until now. (I wonder why they suddenly started) yet one or both may have even before they met. Some on here report knowledge of it going back before they they were born, like @emmamary's parents. @apple1996 believes it is a newer thing, but how new?

How much knowledge of what one's parents (and further back) did depends on how openly that was shared, and sexual history is often not passed down. It was certainly not discussed in my family when I was the age many of you are now. So it is really hard to know how many did it long ago. But I imagine that at least a lot of people have at least trimmed it many, many decades ago.

When I first moved to CA 20 years ago, I was in Newport Beach, bicycling around one of the more popular beach areas, and stopped to talk to two girls that were coming from the beach. One of the girls had pubic hair sticking out of her bathing suit on each side of the leg opening. I was surprised, to see that but glad to see a girl being so bold.

Personally, I like a woman to have a lot of pubic hair, but I think most DO trim it away from the leg opening of a bathing suit, or from the leg of their bikini underpants. I would not trim much, as you do need some cushion during sex.

I've no idea how long it's been going on.

I tried shaving when I was at uni, but I found it so uncomfortable that for the past 13 years or so I've been completely natural. Mind you, I don't have much hair down there and perhaps people who grow full bushes will see things differently.

It's pretty recent, people only started to shave their pubes some 25 years ago and while I'm speaking from anecdotes, that's mainly an American thing. I much prefer hair down there, it's a natural lubricant and it feels less like I'm having sex with a child. I'm only some years older than you and honestly it's not as uncommon as you think.

As long as the hair is clean and disease-free then most people probably aren't going to care.

Definitely a new thing. No one talked of shaving that I can recall, say, 25 years ago. I remember in college, there were these young ladies in the hallway in the dorm looking through a porn magazine, where some of the women were shaved. They all thought that it was "out of the ordinary" for the women to be shaved. (Pre-internet days where people actually looked at magazines.) When I was of the age to get naked with girlfriends, none were shaved or even thought of it.

No, not everybody trim their pubes, it became a fad 10 or 15 years ago. Pubic hair is making a comeback, I think as long as it's well groomed, I think it looks hot as fuck. Trimmed or shaved lips and let the bush go

When I was in the club / hookup scene in the mid 70's it was full bush. I don't know exactly when it became commonplace, but, my wife started trimming in the late 80's.

It's been a thing for such a long time. Back in the 1800's, when there was where houses, the ladies were shaved. If a man wanted a hairy lady, they would put on a merkin. I started to shave around 17. It was a talk then but more so now because of the internet. @apple1996 believes it's a new thing, but it only sounds new because of social media.
