Have you ever had an open relationship?

I've become curious about open relationships because of certain issues I'm having in my own relationship.

What are your thoughts on open relationships? How did you bring up the idea to your partner? Did it help or hurt your relationship?

I'm in one now. She's the only woman I have sex with but I am free to have sex with as many men as I choose. That's her rule. I am a little less restrictive. She can fuck anyone she wants, male or female. These rules were set in place before we even became a couple. We met online and discussed what we would like to see from an open relationship. When we came to a mutually fulfilling agreement, we moved in together. We've been together for four years now and we are deeply in love with each other.

For the life of me I cannot understand why this has so many downvotes. This is exactly how a respectful and successful open relationship is supposed to work, and I have a lot of clients (Im an R&S counsellor) who have found that a similar type of open relationship with gender-specific rules and restrictions works great for them.
