  • Yep. One of my old friend’s father was a captain in the Italian mob. Plenty of killers were under his wing. A number of my other friend's families were also mobbed up... They would hang out in their front business a little hot dog joint in a back alley that never had any business, but always had like 10 to 20 mopes hanging out playing cards and shit at the tables all day. A lot of the kids I grew up with that are still alive have been in and out of prison multiple times for violent crimes. I’ve was around many street level criminals most of my youth. I grew up in south Florida in the 80s and 90s (the highest point in American violent crime) when Miami was the murder capital of the USA.

    • Were you scared of him?

    • I had no reason to be scared of my friends. I knew they did dirt, but I did to so whatever... I'm just glad I was smart enough to get my shit together as a adult rather than keep doing what we were doing. I have a clean record. I've never been arrested. Most of them have dozens of arrests and have spent more than half of their adult lives in jail.

  • Previous job they gave me a helper & told me his name. At one point I was calling his name & could see him standing there smoking but not responding. I walked over asked dude didn’t you hear me?

He apologized and explained that wasn’t his real name if he used his actual name they wouldn’t hire him. Told me his real name & upon looking it up discovered he was a convicted felon. Arrested for slashing someones throat and stabbing another in the chest.

I was very polite to him after

    • @googlemyahoo do you still see him?

  • I look in the mirror every day and remember all the people I killed. I look down and I could swear there's blood on my hands, but they're clean. I wash them anyway.

  • In the late 1980s, I met a guy who had shot someone to death. He wasn't in prison for long (maybe a couple years), so he must have plea bargained. I met him shortly after he was released. I have no idea about the circumstances of the incident. It was kind of hush-hush. Maybe it was self defense, I don't know.

The guy owned a large, legitimate business in downtown Los Angeles/Hollywood that also engaged in under the table activities. He was ambitious but also a lot of fun. He held some amazing parties. He was Italian and not much older than me, so I always wondered how he built his business and if he was "connected". His name was Rocky, of all things.

I became friends with him through my job and we had close mutual friends. He was a great guy, but I never got too close because I didn't want to get caught up in anything illegal.

  • I witnessed a murderer being executed.

  • Do war criminals count?

  • No, but I had a cousin who had met Albert DeSalvo who was the Boston Strangler. He said he was a very charming man.
