  • They’re motile sex cells released in the billions, like your blood or skin cells—they’re microscopic and invisible to the naked eye.. they’re haploids and contain half of the genetic information necessary to create human life—23 chromosomes.

They can survive in the vagina for at least 5 days, if lucky enough not to be eliminated by its natural acidity and chemicals released by the egg membrane.

  • I find it pretty amazing... even more amazing, that one of them made me pregnant !!!

  • Yeah. It is amazing. What decides whether sperm gets to be male or female?

    • The answer is the XY sex-determination system. The sperm decides the gender by chromosome type. There are XY sperm (male) and XX sperm (female). Male sperm are faster but have shorter lifespans, while female sperm are slower but possess promising longevity are more likely to survive the vagina’s hostile environment. Only men possess the Y chromosome necessary to conceive male babies. Women possess only two X’s. But in some rare cases, some babies can be born with an extra X or Y, known as XYY or XXY—or Klinefelter syndrome, a chromosome disorder.. and it’s very difficult determining their sex characteristics before the onset of puberty. It’s often a result of genetic error during fertilization.

    • *X sperm *Y Sperm

    • The woman’s egg will provide the X and the man’s sperm will provide the Y

  • Yeah, even watched them under a microscope, they're sort of cute to look at.

    Amazing.

  • do i have to be the one to say it? oh here goes - yes the sperm are alive. so why any woman with a steady boyfriend/husband would buy expensive creams for her face and body? well i don't know. and yes i went there.

    • I dont understand miss

    • That’s a myth, I hope you know that lol

    • @Ninjazzed sure thing! it's just that only certain people believe in myths and faerytales and those people always seem to look amazingly young! bahahah!

  • I saw some corny video once about sperm racing to fertilize an egg. They were kidding each other as to who would get there first to do the chore. When they got to the end they found themselves in some dark tunnel which turned out to be the inside of a girl's mouth and swallowing them.

Have you ever thought about how sperm are alive?

    .

  • Dude, the cells in my skin are alive too, what’s your point?

  • No, I never thought. Because I know it scientifically😄
The semen contains substances necessary for the survival of the sperm cell.
And body temperature is a high temperature for sperm cells.
In order to prevent the sperm from being affected by high temperature, sperm are formed, matured and stored in the testes (body outside).

  • *gathers all my eggs and runs away* no babies for me, thanks

  • If you’re amazed by that, think about the fact that you have more creatures living on your body than there are humans on earth. Creatures like these

Have you ever thought about how sperm are alive?Have you ever thought about how sperm are alive?
    • That's why I feel things crawling on me when I can't see any bugs :)

    • and there's 2 weeks of nightmares right there!

  • Yeah it's pretty gross

  • It's not like they are parasites, or something bad! "infectious" maybe, depending on the definition, as they can affect you, and change a woman's body chemistry. . .

  • I haven't really, because I don't consider motile cells alive.
I consider myself a huge ass mothership full of tiny biological robots who are fueled by my DNA.

  • Ohh well we're filled with other organisms too. I'm more fascinated about the fact that they literally live on our body and we're not very conscious of that. It's not limited to sperms lol.

  • Well I know everything about sperms, sex, reproduction... its origin, funtion all because I am a premed... we study about all this...😅😅

  • Yes!
Picture yourself in a boat on a river
With tangerine trees and marmalade skies
Somebody calls you, you answer quite slowly
    A girl with kaleidoscope eyes
Cellophane flowers of yellow and green
    Towering over your head
Look for the girl with the sun in her eyes
    And she's gone

  • Yes does make me wonder , all them babies inside my
man part to fertilize her eggs LMAO

  • This only bothers me when a guy says he killed his children in the shower today

  • No, because if they were alive that would make me a genocidal maniac everytime i yank it.

    • Well click the gif, they sure don't look dead

    • Ok that was an attempt at humor. But a heart beats does that make it alive?

    • Agreed but I still think the little guys are fun to watch

  • Well, technically every cell in your body is alive. We are literally like mobile coral reefs, massive colonies of interconnected organisms functioning as one. You could call each kind of tissue cell a species that inhabits its uniquely evolved niche and serves a vital role in a walking ecosystem. Pretty neat eh?

    • Yeah it is
