Help! I went on porn hub and an alert came up saying I was accused of child pornograghy?

So I went on porn hub clicked on a video and this alert came up saying my state and city. The alert said that I was accused of watching/ distributing child pornography which I hadn't. It then continued to ask for PayPal as a fine. Was this some cruel joke/ scam, I think it was but it scared me shitless.

  • This is a SCAM. Do not listen to that and DO NOT give them your personal information. NEVER give a random online pop-up your personal information such as your address, name, or credit card/debit card number. This is how people steal your identity, hack your computer, and even sell your personal information to others. If you were really seriously being accused of watching and distributing child pornography then a police officer would have showed up on your door step with a warrant for your arrest. Pedophiles aren't arrested online through pornhub after they pay from PayPal lol

    • I realized this after a couple of minutes, I was just freaking out.

  • lol this is hilarious some guy asked this once before too. You should also get ad block and ad block plus if you don't have it by the way.

  • My friend called me crying about this this morning lol it's just a scam. Don't pay and clear the cookies from your device!

    • I feel so bad for your friend I almost cried too.

    • Yeah... It was a good laugh though :) I'm glad you figured out it was a scam!

  • That is a virus, it's not really a child porn accusation.

Boot your computer in "safe mode with networking" (so you can access the internet), and download, install, update, and run MalwareBytes. Do a complete scan.

Then update and do a complete scan with your anti-virus (I use AVG and it's really good and free).

    ----

Boot like normal when the scans are done, and u should be good to go.

  • it's a virus. It was not on your computer bceause you went to porn hub. That one is a bitch to get rid of too. You have to start your computer in safe mode, run a program called combofix (free download), then boot back into regular windows and run an antimalware program called Malwarebytes. It is also free as long as during the install you do NOT choose "activate real time trial" or something like that.

    • Not necessarily. You can get the message without being infected. Depends on your security.

  • Scam I am, sam.

  • it's totally a scam! how could it have your info? a real alert wouldn't ask for $ let alone paypal.

Accused of child pornograghy and the only thing to do is to pay some money hehee... If that was a real ad we could extort them for money!

  • Scam, definitely a scam lol.

  • Don't worry about it. I have two friends who had a more serious problem. The message said that the police blocked their computers (and indeed they couldn't do anything) and that they must pay a fine. They both needed to re format their computer. Porn sites are full of viruses.

  • Sounds like a scam

  • it's a scam, don't click it and especially don't pay anything!

you shouldn't visit porn sites without adblocker. install uBlock or Adblock for your browser

    • I did 😅

  • it is a scam, if you were really being accused of child pornography you would have cops busting down your door. they wouldn't except PayPal as a form of payment

    • Is question popular or something because people are commenting every ten minutes?

    • No, it's not that it's just normally if I post a question I get four to eight responses.

  • Lol that fine can't be paid with PayPal

The fine for that crime is being raped in a cage and having piss and shit thrown on you until you're stabbed to death or forced to live under a bridge. And i bet they don't notify you in advance lol.

  • Just a scam. Don't send money. Run an antivirus check on your computer and also run a spyware check.

  • it was just a scam. if you were accused of that they would do MUCH more than just fine you.
